Hmmm. That doesnt sound too great. Still have normal operating level of trans fluid correct? I would probably just drop the trans pan and see what the fluid/pan looks and smells like

When it goes for od, it surged a few times then shudders horribly. Like a manual car in way too high of a gear is the closest thing I can compare to

Pretty sure my torque converter just went out in my car. It would lock up once it hit 2nd gear. Stay locked up and slam every gear after that. Until I slowed to a stop. Then it would start all over again. Maybe that will help u.

Yeah that's something to do with it locking up then. I'm not sure if it would actually be the converter. Do stock converters ever fail?

Solenoids. Could be bad or plugged

TCC solenoids cause similar problems, but that noise seems rough unless that solenoid is completely blocked robbing fluid to the TC.
