Not Just Another Turbo Build...

New to the board so let me introduce myself. My name is Matt and I'm from schererville, in. I've been working on a 00 Daytona gtp full out build since late April of this year. The build includes heads/cam/turbo engine mods, full suspension, custom bodywork & paint, also custom leather interior.

Now to the problem: losing boost into the crankcase. I can't get much if any positive manifold pressure. I can feel the air movement when I put my hand over the oil fill opening on the valve cover and I burn oil when I spool up the turbo.

Engine specs:
Stattama t67 kit
Stock L67 bottom end
L36 manifold conversion
Ported stage 2 L36 throttle body
Zzp stage 3 heads
Stattama #4 turbo cam
1.7 yt roller rockers
Double roller timing set
Balance shaft removed

I have plugged off the pcv port in the lower manifold and also the port in the throttle body which were my main suspects for the loss of boost. But it obviously didn't correct the problem. The engine runs smoothly with 15 in of vacuum at idle. If I disconnect the turbo piping and run the engine n/a, I do not get any positive pressure in the crankcase or burn oil. I am legitimately baffled and frustrated with this situation as I have covered anything I can possibly think of and have removed and installed the intakes numerous time to check sealing and gaskets and look for other possibilities. Any ideas or help appreciated.

M

Thanks for the replies and interest. I have only been working on this project for like 5 months. And in that time had a major setback in which I almost died in a motorcycle accident. So that was about a month of down time. I have gone over my vacuum line schematic numerous times as to the hookup of the bov & wastegate. The bov hooks to the vac port which is behind the throttle blade. I haven't pressure tested anything in regards to piping or intercooler but I certainly could. Like I said, I can feel the change in pressure from vacuum to boost when I put my hand over the oil fill hole in the valve cover while revving the engine to spool the turbo.

This probably isn't going to help at all, BUT,

I have a 1991 Trans Am that was leaking oil. What was happening was at WOT, there was too much pressure in the crankcase and blowing the pressure out the dipstick (along with some oil). Long story short, to correct the problem, I had the heads taken off and had the valve guides replaced. I don't know how this solved the problem, but it did.

BTW...love the car!

I have always used the UIM as the source for the vac harness. I have only seen that port capped. Doesn't mean it is right or wrong, just my experience. The vac harness is really easy to mess with...maybe try to route it differently and see if that helps? I guess trouble shooting has to start somewhere. I like starting on the easy stuff first.

if the OEM pcv valve was filled with rtv or the chamber filled with rtv/Jbweld then im betting you either missed the two internal LIM bolts or you forgot to plug the internal crankcase vent passage inside the TB (that ext nipple is only 1 of the two passages on that end.)

do you have vacum at your fill cap with the engine running?

Thanks for the feedback guys... Turbocharged400sbc- i tapped the pcv port in the lower manifold and plugged it. i also had the lower resurfaced on both the cylinder head side and uim side. im not sure what other ports in the throttle body would need to get plugged. i tapped and plugged 1 hole with a 5/16" flush plug per the zzp turbo install directions.

addressing others questions, i fabbed all my intercooler piping and mounts. the turbo pipes under the hood were ceramic coated black. the coil packs are just some summit ones and like i said the turbo itself blows like hell when i rev the motor its just that the boost is making its way into the crankcase for sure.
