Another Turbo Build...

Well earlier this year I pulled my motor out of my 97 GTP and scrapped it. It was rusted out badddd.

So I recently bought Kalo/Matts old impala without a motor or trans. It has 97xxx miles, not a spot of rust.

I'm doing a lil turbo build, nothing major. Here's some of the parts I have plus pictures of the car/parts.

L26 short block
Cartuning pt61 intercooled kit
L26 intake set up w/insert
L67 throttle body
Lt1 maf w/mini afc
Front plog
Rear mani w/ #6 primary turned
Double roller
St5 cam
130# springs
Automotive 340
80# injectors
Zzp "race" battery

I was helping finish my buddies car at robs house( sinister dd ) and came across the car. It was a bitch trying to get the title, I had to talk to Jeff Kalo to get it.

I'm not sure where to go for a tuner yet. I've been going to prj.

I have a buddy who does tuning, he just started a new job, but I can talk to him and see if he would be interested. Orland Park, IL is our location (pretty much)..we don't have a dyno or anything, but let me know, I can ask him and see whats up, he's been using DHP for a long time.

There's also a place down by me in New Lenox with a dyno..I've never used them, but a buddy with a GTP was there before, I haven't heard much about them but from their website, they seem to do a lot of LS motors more than 3800's..but who wouldn't lol

I think u are thinking of straight line performance? They do a lot of ls cars. My buddy had his mustang dynoed there.

Since I'm a lil low on cash right now i am going to be buying a stock 03 transmission and do a few upgrades. What gear set should I buy 2.93 or 3.29? I'm getting the st5 cam because I'm thinking I will eventually get a t67 turbo it something, if that helps.

I would go 3.29 on the gears personally, and yeah straightline. I've never had experience with them, so not sure how they are on 3800's but its an option

Yeah I was leaning towards 3.29 gearing. And yeah I want to go to a reputable 3800 tuner. There's not that many people out there.

go 2.93 if your doing 7/8th chain tim king explained to me that due to the gear pitch and the diameter of the gear the 2.93 chain ends up being stronger than the 3.29 and you really want the slightly longer gears you will have with the 2.93 since you will be making more power on the top end with the turbo

not that the 2.93 will last for very long anyway but hay gotta try lol
