I have no problem with legal immigrants. Why Rahm doesn't focus on a means of fast tracking immigration process, or other LEGAL means of being a welcoming city is beyond me. I too hope Trump bitch slaps these sanctuary cities with a quickness...

I went to see cooking show host Alton Brown's traveling show last night in Sarasota and he made a point of disparaging snowflakes and participation trophies in his opening monologue. Got a huge hand from the Florida audience.

These were normal people just going to see a food/entertainment show and they were overwhelmingly behind his comments. That's a quick and easy poll to understand. #foodiesforTrump

I was talking about that with my father in law last night. You see all these "polls" about how Trump's approval ratings are horrible...but of all of the people I know that voted for Trump (which includes just about my entire gigantic family, most of my coworkers, and most of my friends) and everyone is overall happy with how he's been doing so far.

Do we all think he's been perfect? No. But overall we're happy.

Now before anyone comes in here with their bullshit novel on how the people I know are not a representation of an epic genius scientific poll...I get it. I'm simply stating that of the hundreds of people I personally know that voted for Trump...everyone is happy so far.

I wouldn't call that a "for Trump" angle, as much as a frustration with political correctedness and coddling our kids. This isn't a political issue, it's just an issue. Both "sides" participate in both practices. I'm fairly liberal (as most know) and I have long since been an opponent of participation trophies and the "everyone's a winner" mentality. Also the snowflake term is just asinine, and goes hand in hand with the "everyone's a winner" mentality. People crying because their candidate didn't win, kicking and screaming, and crying foul. It happens every election season. And it's not just the millennials that are guilty of it, plenty of adults and boomers are guilty of it too. It's a problem with our society, and if we keep politicizing it, it's not going to get any better.

I could be much happier. There's tons of work to be done on tax reform (both corporate and personal), repatriation of cash outside the US, repealing and replacing the ACA (cuz I won't use the O-word), federal government reform (what happened to this "make one policy, remove two" stance anyway?), fixing of the education system starting with removing common core and addressing astronomical college costs... just to name a few.

Instead, we're posturing up all over the world with a poorly defined foreign policy stance and getting ourselves involved in places we shouldn't be. Enough of policing the world for a bit and lets tend to our own problems.

Oh, you know, like determining a path forward for our two party system, calming the masses who are rioting seemingly endlessly here at home and creating strict policy on how to handle folks who are inciting violence and damaging property during "demonstrations."

How bow dah?

That's always been my biggest fear with Trump as president. I was hoping that the cabinet members and foreign policy advisors he brought in would bring in some needed wisdom and restraint, but it doesn't look like that's really worked. Nobody can deny Mattis' track record in war, but his job was to eliminate targets from a military standpoint. But he's been doing an OK job, although is being a bit hawkish. Tillerson seems woefully underqualified as Secretary of State on matters of foreign diplomacy and policy. I have every reason to believe he could run a business or manage the Boy Scouts with the best abilities, but foreign policy for the US? Would not have been my first choice...We always wanted Trump to "drain the swamp" but instead, he's just bringing a new pond scum that's going to need to be drained.
