Did the C7Z have the carbon fiber downforce crap? Seemed to get pulled on hard above 140. I mean, I know it's a joke but it actually could affect the outcome in this instance

Downforce aint no joke. The ACR there was only managing mid 150s and he was hotlapping like a son of a bitch.

ACR top speed is like 165mph. Downforce kills these cars top end. C7z top speed is only 180 I think.

this is true, I talked with the guy quite a bit and was under his hood, to be honest I'm pretty sure not even cat back. He did have an extra reservoir for H/E and kept swapping the water out to keep IAT2 somewhat in check.

I definitely didn't get the feeling he had anything to hide. His car was flying, I would like to see the C7Z with at least a tune on it but my dad has been hearing about trans problems and is afraid of voiding the warranty with a tune and then having that trans go bad.

Yeah, I haven't seen anything about it but I also don't frequent the Corvette sites anymore. He said some of the guys in the NCRS were telling him about them. I'll see if I can find anything.

I did a quick google search and I am not seeing anything so far. I'll confirm where he heard this and see if I can find out more details. I definitely think he should do a CAI and a tune. Also, this car should have come with mudflaps... not because it rides higher than my F250, but because those tires are so sticky they flings rocks all over the place. They were actually stuck to the garage floor so badly that they pulled up the epoxy and a top layer of concrete!

C7's were having trans overheating issues during road course work, not sure if that was the case or if the trans is different in the C7Z.

Yeah, I did see that on the C7Z's. Apparently, GM said not to buy the auto if you plan to race it on the track a lot.

My LAPS instructor said the C7Z auto he was in recently was a huge fail on the autobahn good thing GM backs that up and informs their customer base not to plan on that

What did the ZR1 trap? My Dads went 156 with just a cat back the first year the 1/2 mile was at Bult Field.

The C7Z went 155, I don't know what the ZR1 ran but must have been at least 158ish.

I talked to the owner and he was running low 160's!
