My buddy is trying to find a company or someone that can change a salvage title into a rebuilt one. He bought a new Ford Five Hundred at a salvage auto auction a couple years ago and got it fixed and painted, but he wants the title changed... anyone on here have any recommendations? Thanks

Secretary of State's office has to inspect the car. If it passes, they will issue rebuilt title.

Try contacting them... may have to be done in Springfield, I don't know. CyberdriveIllinois.com

Its prolly going to cost him a pretty penny for any licensed rebuilder to put thier license on the table for someone else. The salvaged vehicle has to be in the rebuilders name as well!!!

9 x's out of 10 licensed rebuilders own autobody shops and do this type of work often for a qwick buck.

You also need a shit load of paper work as well to show proof of where the parts came from to fix the vehicle.

There are ways of "washing a title" but a carfax will remain.

There are a lot of rebuilt cars on the roads today working and running just like new without a scar or a hint of prior damage.
