Opinions on a 99 GT

After selling the cobra and driving a escort around I just can't take it any longer. Want to get back into a V8\5 speed car.

I found a 99GT in decent shape just wanted to know what is a fair price for a 99GT with 58k miles on it? leather, 5speed, mach460. No mods, car has allot of scrates up front on the bumper and drivers door sill. some cracks in door panel, motor is very dirty. Just needs allot of TLC, nothing too bad like dents etc.

I think insurance and gas would be cheaper than a 99-01 cobra. Power wise what would it take to hang with a stock 99 cobra?

what do you guys think about the 99-04 Gts overall.

i would have to say its worth about 9g or so. and it wouldnt take much for it to hang with a 99 cobra

Price can be from 9-12k.

Mods = gears (4.10 or better), full exhaust (at least o/r midpipe and catback) and 100 shot for the win.

Id say 7-8K

Its a scraped up, neglected, 7 year old GT with 60K. I wouldnt dare pay more than 8K.

If the price is right I would buy it. I have a o3 GT and Just done some little things. I can fell a big difference with what i have done!

Just some FYI here... I may be parting with my 99 GT soon, Im looking for a new project car. Its Chrome Yellow with a 5 speed and 29K miles, one of the cleaniest 99's around without a doubt. Also have some good basic mods, exhaust,gears etc...

I would offer KBB value.... Maybe a fellow member who works at a dealership can find you a clean GT on the lot. Or, go find a GT w/ basic bolt ons already done (save $$$).

As a yardstick to measure from:

A friend has a 00 GT, w/a 5 speed.
no cat x pipe w/ 2 chamber flows
Predator tune
Cold air intake
new clutch
stock tires, stock gear

It consistently runs 13.70's.

W/ DRs and a 4.10 it should be a 13.30's - 13.40's car.

Sorry man not looking for a yellow GT, probably out of my range anyway with those low miles on it.

I want to stay in the $0-8k range, there is not much out there for that price unless it has allot of miles or needs some cosmetic issues etc..

That is all I have to work with for the moment.

I found a 99GT in kansas for $5k with 85k miles on it however it sold in 3 days.

I wouldnt pay more than 7, for a ridiculously clean and low mile 99gt. I paid 9450 for my 99gt (from a dealer) with 20K miles on it in 01. And I thought i paid 450 too much lol.

ANd i purchased a DSG 03 GT in michigan this winter from a dealer, for 13988. Still felt i paid too much for that one. with only 23K miles.

Is it a private seller?

If money is tight and the 99 GT is $8,000 or less (only needs TLC), then you should be good to go....

Pick your mods wisely and look for used bolt ons....

throw an irs at it and some bolt ons and you have a cobra basically
and since u said the bumper is scraped just throw a 99 cobra bumper on there
gt bumpers look nasty imho with the nasty indent for the license plate

im gonna get a 99-01 cobra bumper soon
