I was just curious as to what everyone thinks about this protest that's taking place in Chicago and other cities across the nation. I think it's a bunch of bullshit. :nono:

I agree 100%. The thing is, I have absolutely no problem with people coming into this country. The illegal imigrants are right, this country WAS built off of people coming from other countries, BUT... we are now an established country with set rules, laws, guidlines, etc. They need to abide by these laws now. If you want to come into this country and want all of the benefits that come with being a US citizen, then BECOME A CITIZEN!!!!!!

The main issue that I have is that if these people are going to be coming to this county to "do the jobs that nobody else wants to do", go ahead... but PAY YOUR OWN DAMN TAXES AND MEDICAL BILLS!!!!!!!!

A friend I know @ work hopped the fence 10 years ago. Now he is a citizen and he is a mechanic @ Nabisco making $28/Hr. same as I. It is a myth that they want the low paying jobs, they want our jobs.

Nobody is getting my job, I need it to pay for my Cobra's.

BTW - I am fuggin sick of seeing Spanish on everything around this country. I spend an extra 2-3 seconds at the ATM's, websites, and automated phone prompts for no reason. My fricken McDonalds cup and breakfast this morning said a bunch of shit in Spanish on it also.

Learn our Language, we should not cater to people that can not speak English. If we do that they will never learn because there is no incentive for them to learn.

Most definitely they want all of our jobs, but the majority of the illegal's say that they are doing the jobs that nobody else wants to do, so they should be allowed to stay here and not pay for medical bills, and get paid without having to pay taxes on it.

you're going to break into my house, then tell me how its going to be? get the fuck out.

first time an illegal has any contact with any form of government, it should be automatic deportation.

people who knowingly hire illegals should be jailed for 5 years minimum per worker.

So when these f'n illegals become legal and then retire from whatever. They will be collecting social security from the pot that they have NOT been contributing to all their lives. I just got off the phone with my dad who is working downtown right now and he said everywhere you go there are mexicans pissing in the alleys. He said the smell is awful down there.

Another good point, but unfortunately I don't think we have any type of restrictions on SS stating that you must be a citizen for x number of years before you can draw it. I'm not disagreeing with you one bit, but if they become citizens, as the USA, we must allow them the same benefits a natural born citizen.

I guess it's easier for me to say that because I already figure that when I hit retirement in 36 years (ugh) there will be no SS for me to even draw against. Though if the newly citizenized illegal's couldn't claim SS, then maybe there WOULD be something for me at that point...

Did I just have an arguement with myself????

actually a lot of them have been donating to the pot... and they will not be able to draw out of it when they become a senior. their employers are recquired to take the SS fees out of their check (unless under the table), and the hispanics have a fake SS number as well to get the job

I think something needs to be done about Mexican immigrants in our country. I think that they are a positive, hard working community. I think as a community they serve as an excellent example for other lower class communities about what being positive and hard work can accomplish.

I do have a hard time with them protesting however. They are not citizens. They've bypassed our countries immigration policies to live here. They do not deserve to have the same rights as Americans, just as I do not expect to have the same rights as citizen when I work in other countries. I believe they have a positive effect on the country, just as all immigrant populations do. Where else can you get intelligent hard working people for the price of dumb, lazy, or classless people?

Do I think giving Mexican immigrants a visa is a good thing, Yes! If they have the desire to come here, they'll come whether it's legal or not. Initially there will rush across the boarder, but it will stabilize once to the immigration rate we see now. Additionally, we'll be able to hold these people liable for their wrong actions, issue them credit, tax them, sell them expensive goods, and force unproductive citizens to compete 1:1 for honest jobs.

Having said that, I don't think they have any right to protest in our country.

thats a buch of b.s. that they do the jobs nobody else wants to do. they're displacing someone. those jobs didnt just magically go undone until the mexicans showed up.

they undercut the previous person doing that job which applies negative wage pressure and lowers are overall standard of living. i for one dont give a shit if the price of avacados goes up $0.25/lb because the growers are forced to hire legal help.

live by it, die by it. there's always someone willing to undercut you.

other immigrant groups decided to americanize themselves. these people are refusing to do so, and have the gall to demand rights. they should be asking nicely for amnesty. they're not in a position to demand shit.

As far as them doing the jobs that no one else wants to do.. Maybe if we got rid of people who will work for minimum wages, it would force companys like Mcdonalds and Walmart to pay wages that people can make a living on. :dunno: :dunno:

I don't know if I agree w/ the hard working part. Some yes, the majority no. It was comical when I was getting the landscaping installed @ my house. You would see 3 screwing off on the West side of the house, two in the back doing nothing and the foreman in the front doing most of the work with someone @ his side. He could not see what we could see from within the house. I estimate they worked @ most 20% of the time. My wife was sooooo pissed, but I told her we were paying by the job, not by the hour.

Here @ Nabisco most are not hard working, they are average @ best.

I don't like how the expectant mothers cross our border, go to a safe house, then when ready to give birth go to a hospital in the US. Free medical care and welfare for the new US citizen. Those scams are costing us Billions.

No this is really fucking retarded the fact that they want to come here and work and make money... Yet they arrange this entire day for a retarded protest, that clearly they are not working or making any money on this day.. Also they are using our govenrment resources today (police, bomb squad, riot patrol etc) as well b/c they need to be out there watching the crowds and what not... So all and all todays circus downtown cost the USA even more money on people that are not even citizens.
Oxymoron!

Getting tired of seeing them move into decent neighborhoods with multiple families living in a single family home. They are really shitting up some areas here in the suburbs.

Thats because they like to live on the cheap. They can all work, have a house full of kids w/ multiple families, contribute very little in property taxes and get more back with the burden of schooling, etc. Then they send the money to mexico rather than spending it here. So now your local businesses suffer and can't pay the wages, etc., for thier employees.

I think there needs to be something done for illegals. But, if you have any type of felony, you get a free ticket back to your home country. We need to have organized immigration.

I think we should ask the Indians, oops, Native Americans, if they agree with illegal immigration next time we visit one of their casino's. :booty:

so you wait until they commit a felony? just being here is a crime. thats the "illegal" part of "illegal immigrant". allowing them citizenship punishes those who used legal methods of immigration.

we DO have organized immigration. many people come here legally and get legal work visas.

this issue is about illegals not legal immigrants. its not an anti mexican thing either. its just that the mexicans are scofflaws.

Selling homes on the Gulf Coast of Florida
I have mixed feelings about the Mexican immigrants and/or border jumpers. I like the Mexican people I know. They are hard working, friendly people and assets to America. On the other hand, jobs are being lost and taxes are not being paid so some of the immigrants from Mexico [and other countries] take advantage of the U.S. laws and we end up paying more because of it.

Deportation is not a detriment. It's like pushing a mouse out of your house but leaving the door open. What does the mouse do? It turns around and comes right back in. If you truly want to stop illegal immigration or at least lessen it greatly, you have to get medieval and cut off body parts when you catch an illegal immigrant. First time, cut off a finger. Second time cut off a hand. Third time cut off.... Well, you get the idea.

Americans are too soft. We'll do too little until the problem is out of hand and then we'll go way overboard. That's what we usually do in any uncomfortable situation. We ignore it and then nuke it.

I feel sorry for the people that got over here, started a life and have to leave,
BUT>>> they are here illegally, and if we continue to let this happen, overpopulation is a bitch, not to mention what will happen to the economy

I had a Dr. Appointment on Michigan Avenue today and luckily missed traffic and protestors :biggthump

1. I would like to ensure we understand that Mexicans are not the only illegal immigrants.

2. I am glad there was a demostration, protest, whatever the politically correct term is. I respect people who are not afraid to stand up for what they believe in, even though majority feel they are wrong. I wonder if we assembled / stood up for ourselves more often, the government would respect the average citizen a little more. Maybe the government would not be imposing some of the bull shit that it does (BS ordinances, laws, taxes, removing our rights, etc.)

3. About the issue at hand, it takes a lot of courage for these people to leave their countries with only the clothes on their backs. Come to a foreign land where they do not know the language, laws, culture. Will there be a job or will they die in route to the U.S.

4. Now I think the illegal immigrants are wrong, and need to pay taxes and their medical bills. They should obey the laws of this nation and learn to speak the language. I hold them and their employers responsible. Yes, the small business owner who employs these people should ensure all of their employees pay taxes. A fine will get these business owners in line. If a fine is not enough, how about a little jail time.

5. This illegal immigrant issue needs to be addressed and changes need to begin at the top. I am glad there was an protest. Whatever the outcome may be, it is about time our political figures step up and start to address the issues at home. I am tired of homeland issues being swept under the rug.
