So being a "True American" = being a Christian?

There is a reason the separation of church and state was written into the Constitution. That reason was so that no religious group could force American citizens to follow their particular religion. Everybody in America has a legal freedom to follow whatever religion they choose. They don't have a right to force other people to follow that religion. Putting religion into government leads to countries like Iran. Our founding fathers realized that and didn't want it for America. IMHO, being a "True American" means making of your own life whatever you want it to be but NOT forcing others to follow what you believe. Flame suit on... :rolleyes:

All this is saying is that There shouldnt be all this Political Correct bullshit in the world. Larry The Cable guy does a good skit about this also if any one has ever seen it

Sort of but not really but your kinda on the right track. The constitution does not say separation of church and state anywhere. People like me that actually read it know it says: "Congress shall make no law respecting a religion or prohibiting a free exercise thereof..". This actually works both ways to the effect that the religious entitys are exempt from government control. Also it insures the government does not enforce a particular religious doctorine thereby adopting a state religion. Only by implication is there a separation of church and state. That is very important. A lot of the constitution is worded like that. Also there is no right to a fair trial. It is only implied. The constitution sets up the conditions of what we consider a fair trial. But it does not mention we have a right to a fair trial anywhere in the text.

I used "separation of church and state" as a generic term to cover what is generally accepted as the legal interpretation of the Constitutional religion/government legalese. You are correct in your statements about the Constitution. The guys who wrote it were VERY good about writing a possibly unpopular law but making it palatable to the citizenry of the time. It's been a while since I read the entire Constitution but I remember being impressed with the intelligence that had gone into most of it. Here's the Preamble to the Constitution. It's a good thing for every American to read once in a while:

" We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

I just dont like how people get so butt hurt about things all the time. If you dont like something, shut up and sit in the corner. Like people trying to change the pledge b/c it says God in it. Its been that way for 50 years, youre not special, you can shut up now.
