I am looking into a couple of different radar detectors right now. I currently have a k-40 which has always worked for me but I lost the window bracket so I don't have it on my car at this time. I found this website and it looks like this might be my choice what do you think of it?

www.rockymountainradar.com

I am looking at the rmr-c450 Radar scanner and diffuser.

Would you buy this?

What do you currently have?

I have some shitty cobra radar detector but I rarely even use it anymore because I haven't really been pulled over in about a year knock on wood

I'd say go with a valentine one, kinda pricey but everyone that has one seems to love it and it tells you which direction the radar is coming from

V1. www.valentineone.com nothing else beats it. If you buy any RMR device, just hand me your money now and I will give you an empty shoebox:

Also WARNING you now, please don't be stupid. Rocky Mountain Radar jams 0% radar and laser, it does NOTHING for jamming, and it is one of the worse detectors you can buy and leaks like a mofo. It will set off other detectors and it somehow also increases the range in which you can be detected. I have videos proving this and I have owned one myself and got scammed.

References for your education:

and just google "rocky mountain radar scam" (also known as RMR enterprises), and every year they completely change the names of their products, and they don't refund ANY tickets!

They were an SVTOA sponsor for a short time until SVTOA got the word on their products not working. Just a box of rocks for your windshield.

Bel 980 here as well, saved me plenty of times. I bought it back in school (like 6-7 years ago) because it got similar reviews on performance to the V1, and cost like $100 less.

I wouldn't trade it for anything right now, but if I ever have to replace it, I'll probably pony up to the V1.

Beltronics Vector 995. Has been tested to outperform valentine 1 in long range detection. FYI Beltronics own 90% of the industry patents on radar detectors, and the 995 is software upgradable. So 4 years down the road when there is new bands of radar out you dont have to buy a new one. Plug it in your computer and update it for free from Bel!! This has saved me 1000's of times.

www.radartest.com tested the Bel RX965, V1, and Passport 8500 X50 here is a breif summary on their findings.

How We Ranked Them by Categories
Best overall performance BEL Pro RX65
Best instant-on performance Escort Passport 8500 X50
Best POP-mode performance BEL Pro RX65
Best windshield mount Valentine One
Best visual displays BEL Pro RX65
Best audible alerts Escort Passport 8500 X50
Best laser performance Valentine One
Best price/performance ratio Escort Passport 8500 X50

FYI Circuit City sells the Vector 995 for reg price $299 and is usually on sale for $259. There is like one minor difference between the Vector 995 and the Pro RX65

I love my 995!!!

my 50 dollar Cobra detector has done me fine so far... if your a cheap ass like me when it comes to anything but you car :dunno: , its the way to go
I hear ya, I figured what was more, a $500 radar detector or just paying a few more speeding tickets?

Then I got 4 tickets in a year and I decided that losing my job if I didn't have a drivers license wasn't a path I wanted to start down.

True but mine has only let me down once in 2 years and it was my stupid ass fault for ignoring it :dunno:
