I bought a Craftsman aluminum floor jack a few months ago. It's only a 1 1/2 ton jack but I was assured that would be enough to lift the Mustang. The jack has a quick lift feature where the arm raises quickly until pressure is put on it. This is nice because you only have to crank once or twice to get the jack up to the jacking point. It was made out of aluminum and looked good.

However, this model jack has several deficiencies In my opinion. The first one I bought leaked oil. I brought it back and exchanged it for another. The 2nd one had a tendency to suddenly let the car come down. I would crank it up, tighten it, let go of the handle and the car would drop. I ended up having to tighten the handle with a channel lock pliers. Finally, after a couple times of doing this, the handle became stuck with the car up. Using a channel lock to try to release the handle broke off part of the lifting mechanism. Another problem was that instead of having 4 casters, this jack had a roller on the front. The roller had a tendency to move the jack sideways during raising and lowering. I brought the jack back today and traded it in on a 3 ton standard model that also came with a creeper and pair of cheap jack stands.
So, in my opinion, think twice about purchasing this jack. I certainly didn't have good luck with the two I used. I don't want to go so far as to call them defective, but I have very little good things to say about it. In my opinion, this jack was not safe to use on my car.
