A Wheeling man has been sentenced to 30 months of probation for stealing credit card information from dozens of customers at a Mt. Prospect building supply store where he worked.
Siamion Kuzmin, 20, pleaded guilty to identity theft and was ordered Tuesday to pay $13,700 in restitution.
Kuzmin was arrested after police learned he had been using an electronic device hidden in his sleeve to capture credit card information from customers at a Home Depot in Mt. Prospect where he was a cashier.
He admitted to stealing credit card information from nearly 60 customers and giving the information to an accomplice who made new credit cards, authorities said.
The fraudulent cards were used to buy gasoline, clothing and other items, authorities said. The accomplice has fled the country.
