Here's the deal.

If you are not a regular patron of said Snap-on dealer - yer fucked. Of all the tools in that van you pulled up to at the local dealership, when you hand them the cracked shallow well 3/8" drive 13mm socket - he won't have one to swap.

Only way I ever got an exchange from an unfamiliar Snap-on rep is walk up, ask for the exact tool I 'want to buy', and when he puts it in my hand pull out the broken one ask to exchange it.

Usually works.

I've sent them back to them (at one time there was an address on their website), and requested a replacement. A week later, I have a replacement.

Going up the guy in a truck is useless 9 times out of 10, even if you're at a dealership or other service department. I'd give them to him and the following week, he'd bring back a replacement.
