Technical Writing

Anyone taken classes in this? Spring semester is about over for me and a technical writing class is the only online course available over summer. Debating taking the summer off or enrolling in the class. It's an elective for my degree.

I'm going to assume a fairly heavy workload?

Easy class. The whole gist (jist?) of the class is to sound like you're technically proficient to clients/manager/CEOs. It's not actually TECHNICAL writing, like manuals with diagrams or technical data.

I took it last year and had the same fear yet glimmer of hope it wasn't just another GenEd course.

It was GenEd.

Part of my degree is in technical writing and it really depends on the class. Some classes were in the weeds writing, and others were organizing technical data to be communicated to a wide audience. It's also the analysis of data, facts, etc and weeding out the important stuff for specific audiences. Much of it is working with technical documents and formal research papers.

Super easy class. Made a user manual for cleaning a Glock 23. Picked cleaning a gun because I couldn't bring it in for class for visual aid.

Judging by the class description it's more of the latter and less of the former. There is also a "writing for the workplace" class which I take to be more of the general "how to be professional" type writing
