Gordon is my hero. No non sense guy that walks like he talks. A true professional. I got hooked on him watching the UK kitchen nightmares show. Fucking awesome without the bleeps and being chopped up for USA TV.

I took an "amateur cooking" class because I am a guy and was a bachelor.

I was doing flambe while we had to teach three other guys how to boil water and make a hard boiled egg (i used their water to make poached eggs)

so yeah, totally believable to me.
