Do they steal these cars to sell them, keep them, joyride in them? I don't know how you could keep one of these cars long term without getting caught.

They're probably difficult to insure, you can't register them, who would buy it without a clean title, etc. Can they be given a clean VIN? Educate me on car thievery.

I would think it would limit the people you sell it to, I wouldn't want to buy a $60k and not be able to insure it because it is stolen.

Of course I wouldn't be paying sticker for a stolen car, that'd be kind of silly.

Not me personally, but I would imagine someone would buy a stolen Hellcat if the price was right. But I'm sure you'd have to factor that into your buying price, the fact you'll never be able to insure it.

How is that done? Isn't the VIN stamped on a ton of stuff and also into the PCM/ECU and a bunch of other hardware?

That's true, the insurance company doesn't ask to see the VIN on the car. But as far as the state registration, wouldn't they see a duplicate VIN and raise a red flag? Well, I guess if each state in the US doesn't share their information, it might not show up.

I'm going with this car is going over seas in a container clandestinely. That said if not, could always be a shop chopping it up for parts. They'd have a decent chance of getting rid of the husk when done without a ton of questions being asked, and the parts from it would command a healthy premium that they could hide.

It would most likely be a parts car. Wheels and seats and whatnot. Then ditch the rest Im sure. Nowadays it would be very hard to get a new stolen car like that on the road "legally". Besides, I didnt see but I bet they did not get the key with it.
