    My first job was at portillo's and then years later when I was wrenching on cars I met Dick and his brother while servicing their cars (Dick had a 94 or 95 impala ss), they invited me over to some gathering they had. I've been in that house and it is every bit as astounding as those pics.

    Years later I went to a good friends wedding and found out Dick was their uncle, Dick remembered me which I was dumbfounded about. Dick is probably one of the nicest must humble guys I have ever met.

    I too had my first job there. I was told he was a real asshole when he visited stores. The ONE day he visited my store I was off. :fy: My uncle knew him pretty well, he was a regular at his stand back in the day so I originally met him when I was a kid and he was driving his red Merc. I think he had one for every day of the week, different colours, not sure if that was true or just a myth.

    My brother in-law used to work out at X-Sport in Downers Grove and Dick Portillo would often work out when he was there. My brother in law said he was very down to earth and personable. He also had a Bentley or Rolls with the license plate "Top Dog", which made me laugh.

    There are some people that would still continue to want to be involved with the business. It boggles my mind. Is being super-rich and having no job really that boring? I mean, I get bored when I take a few days off work and just lay around the house, but that's just because I don't have a billion dollars to spend to keep me from getting bored.
