I would love to get out of here...but not now with kids in school. If I were to move, it'd be south. Texas. Wouldn't even fucking bother with Wisconsin or Indiana. Why would you move from a cold weather state to another? Stupid.

you can put on more clothes when it's cold, but when it's 117* and 92% humidity, you're just fucked.

Very true. But I will deal with hot, steamy weather as a trade off to leaving below zero temps and snow

If I didn't have family here, I'd move down South probably to Atlanta or SW Florida.

Not always going to be the case and i'd bet you have a lot easier staying atthe same wage by transferring within your company. Switching employers though, no way.

we had a health physics guy come up here from ORNL for two years because of the higher wages, moved back and took the lower pay back at ORNL. Something like a very specific engineering discipline will likely translate the same though.
The accounting firms are ruthless!

Corporate finance/accounting wouldn't be too much of a difference. I get emails from headhunters in other parts of the country, and the pay range is pretty similar no matter where.

Yep... 1 in Texas... in January.... Which also has the highest humidity average for the year at almost 90%.

How many of those on your list drop off in August when a few major cities in Texas start their days in the 90+% humidity...

https://www.currentresults.com/Weath...ity-august.php

Guessing Austin and San Antonio missing the 90% mark but still in the high 80's are still going to be sticky.

Just saying, it's not like all of Texas is a "dry heat" when plenty of the SE of the state gets the same conditions you see in Alabama, Louisiana, and the other gulf coast areas.

Can't go wrong in Arizona. Its fucking perfect out there. If you don't mind 115+ for a bit in the summer. But the rest of the year, its perfect.

Arizona is beautiful and I always loved visiting my grandparents there.

However.... it did get rather old burning yourself on literally everything. Car door handle, house door handle, seat belt buckle, anything chrome or shiny, steering wheel sizzling hot, etc etc etc.

Getting in the car and saying ouch was a daily thing

I lived in San Antonio for 3 years and it rarely was over 50% humidity, and more routinely in the 30-35% range (depends when you're looking but the most humid part of the day is always like 6 am and then it drops quick). It's quite a bit different than Houston which is actually like 90% or anything on the gulf coast. West Texas is really dry for the most part but there's nothing out there.

According to the link I gave, their humidity is much higher than 30-35%.... Averaging 83 in the morning and 48 in the afternoon annually. Obviously higher in the summer months and lower in the winter ones. Their averages come from the 30 year span from 1961-1990 though, maybe it's changed?

My main point was simply to clear up that 98grandprix was making it sound like it's never 90% humid around Texas when it is for quite a bit of the SE portion because of the gulf.

Just checked on weather.com, a few days in the next 10 forecast they'll be in the 70% range....

Still better than getting in the car and freezing your ass off for 5 minutes waiting for the heat to kick in 6 months out of the year.

I'll take heat over anything below about 60 degrees anytime.

I didn't mind Yuma, even though it's bone dry 115* heat. I'd love to move somewhere with a constant dry heat. Maybe my allergies wouldn't be so fucked either.
