The Shootings Of Chicago, Block By Block (MAP)

CHICAGO — There were more than 3,400 shootings in Chicago this year, an increase of 47 percent from the year before.

While shootings spiked citywide, they were largely concentrated in just a few neighborhoods on the West and South sides.

The map below shows how many shootings occurred on each block, based on data compiled by DNAinfo from the Chicago Police Department and Illinois State Police. The larger the circle, the more shootings on the block.

About 2,700 Chicago blocks — just a fraction of the number in the city — registered a shooting in 2016. About 500 blocks had more than one shooting.

The 15 city blocks listed below had the most of any block in Chicago. All had at least five instances.

and I am just here thinking on facebook all of the social justice warriors would be "those facts and raw plain date is racists!!!!??!??@#@Q$??!!!!! RACIST~!!!!"

the problem is the lack of critical thinking skills in the general public.

"hey they said blacks cause most of these, black is the problem!"

the data is interpreted wrong and or portrayed in a negative manner that infers those stereotypes

Can someone enlighten me as to the problem? Poverty? Shitty parents? No parents? Education?

I don't agree that black people are genetically more inclined to commit crimes. But why are the predominant number of shooters and victims (in this particular example) of that persuasion?

It has to be a combination of things. My wife's family grew up in poverty, and she grew up fine. It can't be race.
