9 dead in Waco, Texas, shooting - CNN.com

(CNN)Gunfire erupted Sunday among rival biker gangs in Waco, Texas, leaving at least nine people dead, according to police.

Authorities had anticipated trouble and pre-positioned officers.

"There were at least three rival gang groups here this morning for whatever reason. As they were here, we had officers on scene. We expected issues," said Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton, a police spokesman.

The fight broke out at Twin Peaks restaurant and spilled into the parking lot. It quickly escalated from hands and feet, as weapons, to gunfire, Swanton said.

He told reporters that eight people were dead on the scene, and another was pronounced dead at an area hospital. An unspecified number of people are injured.

No officers were hurt, Swanton said. He praised their response.

"Their action has saved lives in keeping this from spilling into a very busy Sunday morning," the spokesman said. "Thank goodness the officers were here, and took the action that they needed to take to save numerous lives."

This is what happens with no more sons

I don't follow.

Police chief said in an interview "we have heard reports of additional out-of-state members of these gangs are on their way to Waco. We would discourage them from coming here, because we have plenty room for them in the county jail."

SWAT was on the scene as these gangs rolled in and it still got out of hand quickly enough for nine to die. Of course, no one is saying if the cops killed them or if the gang members killed each other.

192 bikers were involved.....this is a great number.....living in chicago all my life i can tell ya, we've never seen a gang fight of this magnatude as well as orchestrated.

it really makes you question how large the biker gangs revenue numbers $$$ are with their possible;drug running, gun running and people smuggling compared to the local gang bangers.

after some more light reading.. it appears this was a CoC meeting. Coalition of Colors. this is supposed to be a neutral zone type meeting of all local MC's, RC's and LEO clubs. Crazy it spilled into the streets. It does appear that at least some of the deaths are from LEO shooting at them after having guns pointed at them supposedly. Gonna be a lot of mis-information on the so called news about this coming up.

As to the number of them.. Banditos are one of the largest gangs in TX. mostly hispanic, so you can imagine what there up to.

They gone.

From Twin Peaks Corporate Office:
We are in the people business and the safety of the employees and guests in our restaurants is priority one. Unfortunately the management team of the franchised restaurant in Waco chose to ignore the warnings and advice from both the police and our company, and did not uphold the high security standards we have in place to ensure everyone is safe at our restaurants. We cannot tolerate the actions of this relatively new franchisee and have revoked their franchise agreement effectively immediately. Our sympathies continue to be with the families of those who died and are very thankful no employees, guests, police officers or bystanders were hurt or injured.
