I have had several cats in my life and NONE of them have ever showed interest in, much less chased a mouse.

Plus these mice come in through small cracks/crevices that I have been sealing as I find where they're coming in, then run along the foundation wall. Places where a cat wouldn't be, even if it was into mice.

This was the first one in nearly 2.5 months, so my efforts to seal things seem to be paying off. Especially since this is the time of year that they're looking to get in to nest in a warmer place.

You found "meh" locksets if you bought them at a big box store.

Just like @Outlaw always mentions about people buying their lawn tractors from the big box stores, theyre still a John Deere, but not as nicely made as ones at a John Deere place.

The ex girlfriends parents own a locksmith shop, I had my house, my parents house, and my brothers houses all redone. Shit was definitely NOT cheap, and I had a master lock system setup. My key, my brothers key, and my parents key can all open any house. My sisters key and my younger brothers key can only get into my parents house. My brothers wife's key can only get into my brothers house, keys that I have given friends just so there are spares out there only get into my house, etc...

They use Schlage style keys but are definitely nicer than the Schlage stuff. Would have gone Medeco but that shit is stupid expensive.

That's totally true, but might as well make it as hard as possible for the bastards. Better made materials and little things like MUCH longer screws for the strike plates will only help.

Or I’ll just throw a brick thru your window and not worry about your longer screws and expensive door locks.

The fact that there could be 200 copies of keys out there you don't know about?

I know a girl who lives by boostedguy who thought the same thing, until the people who owned the place before her went in there while she was at work because they still had a key and she didn't think to change her locks.

My back lock has a key pad but the gears were chewed to shit. So I just changed back to normal. I'll throw a hide a key somewhere eventually.

Again, I fully understand the whole "if they want to get in they will" concept, but I would think throwing a brick through the window would wake me up or at least draw suspicion besides someone walking up with a key to the door and unlocking it.

Do you leave your car keys in the car when youre not using it? Why not? If they want it theyll take it?

Do you lock up your bikes or just leave them on the front lawn? Why put them someplace secure, if they want them theyll take them?

Same concept.

I don’t know why people think thieves will break in at night when people are almost guaranteed to be home. Middle of the day is where it’s at.

My bikes are in my basement. My key is in my pocket because otherwise I’d probably lose it or leave it in the ignition (do that shit all the time in the cucv). My cucv has the same key as every other one so yea literally thousands of them exist. I have insurance.

I changed my locks only because I wanted them to match. And so I could have a keypad.

My dog keeps people out... My cameras tell me if someone came in....

You also don't even have to smash a window, lots of windows can be jimmied open.

And like Joel just posted, thieves like to come in when you aren't home.... Thats the common crime in gangland at least.

I want one on the shed and corner of the garage. I need light right now. House and garage are a disaster and I cant see shit. Good temporary use right now.

Somebody on here does cable locks on stuff in their garage. Might as well add a security guard and some 10 foot fences too. I mean you can do all that if you want? But I think its overkill.

I think you guys are blowing it a little out of proportion now.

All I'm saying is I don't mind spending a little more for a better lock, looks better, better warranty, better materials, and a dollar extra for 4" screws so itll go into the framing of the house instead of just the door framing.

I mean, a garage is probably the easiest thing to get into with expensive stuff. That’s why I have a camera to hopefully catch a face or description of said person.
