I honestly think he was possessed by the spirit of Senna. That drive was otherworldly.

Well that start was pretty uneventful. I was half expecting rosberg to just crash into Hamilton and secure the championship lol.

Tough break for Verstappen on the start though. Would've loved to see a whole race scrapping with vettel.

Hamilton is a dick Smart strategy. I'm guessing Nico didn't want to risk damage by trying to pass. Such a strange sport as far as team orders and such. Not a fan of that. Glad he didn't follow them.

I woulda done the same thing. Once it was clear Rosberg wasn't going anywhere, lets try and back him into the cars behind and see what happens. Friggin hamilton tho in response to everyone in the team telling him to pick up the pace, "Im leading the race..so...im pretty comfortable right now"

Although if i were rosberg, in those closing laps when vettel was right on him, I would have let vettel by and let him go get hamilton and put the pressure on. Cuz that would have assuredly caused hamilton to pick up his pace. If vettel had gotten close enough to hamilton who knows what he wouldve done. W/ no ferrari wins this season vettel couldve said screw it im going for it. Verstappen wasn't a threat at that point anymore and rosberg couldve cruised home to 3rd and still taken the championship.

So disappointing that button had to end his last race w/ a mechanical failure. Sigh.

Bring on next season. W/ all the new changes to the cars, everyone should essentially be starting at zero again. So it will be exciting to see who comes out of the gate fighting.

And congrats to Haas for taking 8th in the constructors standings in their first year!

Next year should be great. I'm under the belief that if you want to make racing better, give the racers a car they want to drive.

Hamilton did everything in his power to try and win the championship, and imo if nico felt like Hamilton was holding him back, then let him attack and try and overtake like a real racing driver. Getting on the radio and telling the team they need to "do something" is kind of a pussy move to me. Like i said, let vettel thru, let him have a go at Hamilton cuz you know hes got nothing to lose, and even if you finish 3rd the championship is still yours.

Hey im happy for nico. His championship run started in mexico of LAST year. He was such a changed person after the austin gp when Hamilton clenched his third wdc. No doubt both rosberg and Hamilton have had their dbag moments in the fight for this championship but when you go back and look at how much of this years championship rosberg has been in the lead vs Hamilton its a wonder that Hamilton even still had a GLIMMER of hope going into this last race. If i were Hamilton you bet i would have done exactly the same thing to give myself every chance until the last lap.

Tho if i were rosberg, instead of complaining on the radio i might have just senna'd hamilton into turn 1 and taken us both out and still won the championship.

His statement:

Quote:
“Since 25 years in racing, it has been my dream, my ‘one thing’ to become Formula One World Champion. Through the hard work, the pain, the sacrifices, this has been my target. And now I’ve made it. I have climbed my mountain, I am on the peak, so this feels right. My strongest emotion right now is deep gratitude to everybody who supported me to make that dream happen.

“This season, I tell you, it was so damn tough. I pushed like crazy in every area after the disappointments of the last two years; they fuelled my motivation to levels I had never experienced before. And of course that had an impact on the ones I love, too – it was a whole family effort of sacrifice, putting everything behind our target. I cannot find enough words to thank my wife Vivian; she has been incredible. She understood that this year was the big one, our opportunity to do it, and created the space for me to get full recovery between every race, looking after our daughter each night, taking over when things got tough and putting ourchampionship first.

“When I won the race in Suzuka, from the moment when the destiny of the title was in my own hands, the big pressure started and I began to think about ending my racing career if I became World Champion. On Sunday morning in Abu Dhabi, I knew that it could be my last race and that feeling cleared my head before the start. I wanted to enjoy every part of the experience, knowing it might be the last time… and then the lights went out and I had the most intense 55 laps of my life. I took my decision on Monday evening. After reflecting for a day, the first people I told were Vivian and Georg (Nolte, from Nico’s management team), followed by Toto.

“The only thing that makes this decision in any way difficult for me is because I am putting my racing family into a toughsituation. But Toto understood. He knew straight away that I was completely convinced and that reassured me. My proudest achievement in racing will always be to have won the world championship with this incredible team of people, the Silver Arrows.

“Now, I’m just here to enjoy the moment. There is time tosavour the next weeks, to reflect on the season and to enjoy every experience that comes my way. After that, I will turn the next corner in my life and see what it has in store for me…”

Crazy, gonna be a hot seat. I wonder if they will bring someone up from their satellite teams or make a big splash with a big name. I'm guessing they will promote within because of Hamilton.

Alex Bowman's reaction. Bowman filled in for Dale Jr this year and doesn't have a ride next year.

Did we properly get excited in this thread yet about what the cars are going to look like next year?

Quote:
The new tires are 25 percent wider than the current ones at both the front and rear, with the slicks measuring 305/670-13 (front) and 405/670-13 (rear). The diameter of intermediate wets is 675mm, while full wets are 680mm.
