Man, Rosberg really blew it this year. Or Hamilton was in a championship hangover for a little while.

I'm wondering how the engine penalties will affect Hamilton. Many people are saying get the engines for Spa due to the nature of the track, and how it's likely it will rain and he could make a decent finish out of a pit lane start

Im surprised Rosberg didnt get more than a 5 second penalty for that move. He didnt even try to mask what he was doing there. And then on the radio he tries to defend himself saying he was full lock and the car went straight Yeah....you were full lock.....about 3 bus lengths past the apex!

Button drove a great race today, its a shame alonso couldnt hang on to that final point.

Vettel tested out the new (much wider) tires proposed for 2017, as well as the new lower, wider rear wing setup. I like the wing, but god damn those tires. I guess thats one way to increase mechanical grip. Its like we're back in the 70s

Heres a comparison on how the cars will be changing

Perhaps it will look more balanced with the new lower wider cars next year

Yeah, i think overall itll be a good move. Hopefully itll finally cure the unexplainable under/over steer issues that have plagued these new gen cars.

Jesus what a crazy start to the race. Magnuson was so lucky his car spun around and hit the tire wall w/ the rear first. Good god that car was mangled.

I forgot the race was on a different time and didn't watch but I heard it was crazy.

Looks like Hamilton is gonna really struggle to get those points back

If nico can pretty much even do 2nd place for the remaining races, hamilton will still have to pretty much come in first for the rest of the season to pull ahead.

I need to get off youtube. Just watched this quali battle from 2005 on monaco. A 1'13 around here is just insane. When I raced monaco in f1 2016 over the weekend I think my best lap of the weekend was like a 1'17.2, and I felt like the car was on the ragged edge the whole time

It gets even crazier when you consider ricciardo's pole lap from this years gp was a 1'13.622 vs kimi's 2005 1'13.644. Thats turbo V6 vs NA V10. Nuts.

Id still take the V10.

Wow. 4 races left, and as it stands right now, rosberg can not finish a race, and even if hamilton gets 1st rosberg will still be leading. So he's basically got a free race at the moment. Not looking good for Hamilton.

Verstappen put on a damn good drive today too.

Jesus. Thats one way to kill your entire day. What a race. That will be remembered for a number of reasons.

It was so heartbreaking to see Massa crash out in his final home GP. But I gotta say, the image of him walking down pit row w/ the brazilian flag held up, and the teams standing outside their garages applauding him as his wife and kid run up to meet him....it was impossible not to get choked up.

And Verstappen. Holy hell. Takes a legitimate 2nd place after the safety car pits in, and not only that, still HOLDS the position even after this half spin

I still have no idea how he held that...... that was one of the most amazing things ive ever seen "Well held" indeed.

But then a crazy decision to pit him in for inters Puts him back into 5th, then after that final safety car he has to come in AGAIN cuz its raining too hard and the inters just dont work. And then. In the last 16 laps, goes from like 14/15th, to THIRD. In 16 laps. Just absolutely put on a clinic. I don't know how he was making that car do what it did. Late braking, overtakes on the outside, overtakes on the inside, overtakes while driving over curbs Just incredible.

Honorable mention should also go to Sainz. He was in 4th most of the race, but finished 6th or so I think. His performance this year has been quietly overlooked by everyone. Even still, it's hard to argue with red bulls decision to promote verstappen this year.

Alonso also. Spun out immediately after that final safety car and was back in like 17th, which I believe at the time was dead last, and he managed to claw his way back up to 10th in the last 16 laps as well.

And so it comes down to the final race. What a season.
