1/2 Mile Drag Strips

Just thinking out loud but the associated risk at those higher speeds in stock cars would probably require cages etc. Especially when we're talking about 140+. I'll let the educated hit this one.

You'd have to find an abandoned airstrip or a road course/test course with a long straight. There are a lot of reasons there aren't any 1/2 mile test courses, the main one being safety. Anything faster than a Civic would have to get a rollcage because you'd be trapping around 130-150 with a stock GTO.

word you would have to cage your car and have all kinds of special tires...i dont think that the cost would warrent the ammount of people that would come out, because of all the safety reasons...also youd need a full mile track so you can stop.

Cars like ours would be dangerously fast, and the really fast cars would blow engines. If you look at any of the really fast classes of racing, the motors are at their limits by the end of the run.

There's the spectator factor as well. No one would attend...

This would get a litle silly with anthing other then stock slow cars.

Motors are ready to let go at the end of the 1/4 mile

What would they say about Road America then. Its front straight is 4100ft long, the back straight is 3500ft long, and Kink to Canada Corner is 2700ft long, and you start that at almost 100mph! Haven't had a motor blow up yet!

Engines ready to let go? Yea top fuel maybe lol. NASCAR keeps their shit on or near redline for miles.
Isn't the longest Nascar race about 600 miles? 600 miles at 7500rpm or above. Nice.
