Figured it's about time to start one of these. I have been wanting to swap my S10 since I was 15. Now 7 years later I'm finally doing it! I just finished prepping the motor tonight and tomorrow the tear down begins. I am hoping to have it done by next weekend, pretty much working on it non stop until its done. I'll try to keep this thread updated as I go. I'm really not expecting much out of it, but I'm thinking it will rip pretty good. Heres the rundown of whats going in.

Engine:
4.8 LR4
S10V8 poly swap mounts
Speed inc. tune
Stand alone harness
02+ Ls6 cam
Ls6 yellow valve springs
Ls1 intake manifold
C5 accessories
Lq4 coils
Truck pan
F-body manifolds
2.5" to 3" y-pipe
3" summit catback

Drivetrain:
Stock f-body 4l60e and torque converter
poly mount
7.5 rear w/ 3.73

Tonight I tore down the engine and got the cam and valve springs installed. Also got it all cleaned up and painted.

I took a bunch yesterday but for some reason my sd slot isn't working. Just gonna have to use my phone for now. Today I got the old fuel pump and lines out and installed the new pump and sending unit. Also got the crossmember notched. Tuesday I've a tow truck driver from my work coming out to move this heap to a friends house. Gonna burn in the patch pieces on the crossmember, and pressure wash the engine bay.

This is why the notch is off center.

Had to work yesterday so I didn't get much done. Today I got the notch boxed in. I ended up using my shitty gasless mig so the welds aren't too pretty. Was planning on using my buddies miller but he wasn't available today, what can ya do. I had a friend from work come out to tow my truck to a quarter car wash. Cleaned up pretty nice. Tomorrow I have a few friends helping me all day, so I'm expecting a lot of shit to get done. Might actually get the drivetrain in this time.

Lol yea your prob right. Or while I'm at the track I could just pull off my front bumper and headlights

Ouch, Toss in a dasfinc stab :s00ls:

New front bumper is plastic and weighs MAYBE 1/3rd what the old one did :fy:

If you want a lane with the ranger, I'd be more than happy to take on another Chebby for a baconator :bigthumb:

if your claiming VICTORY on me then I must contest, we are only going off internet times. I have complete confidence my truck can beat you :s00ls:

and I bet he'll do just fine against you, w/his lighter truck (than mine anyway) he'll trap MUCH better than me. And if all you can muster is 95mph, lol, his truck could reach that w/a stock motor

You got a 14 second blown truck. I dont think you'll be winning that race

I ran a 13.9 with a bone stock motor out of a ford explorer with 5psi on a "Heaton" blower with 235 width cheap street tires... I have closing in on $2,000 worth of parts on my kitchen table right now going into the truck in 3 weeks... ONLY things my truck still 'needs' that I don't have yet is a tire, and headers.

I'm VERY confident my truck will outrun tony's headlights and all...

I still like his build a lot more than mine since its so much cleaner, and has the extra use of a super cab. Sounds like he has been doing everything very similar to me budget-wise too (4.8 because it was cheaper, other OEM parts to make the motor a bit more powerful on a budget, etc, etc)

I'm quite confident my truck would shave an easy 3-4 tenths with a tire :s00ls:, but I didn't get them in time for my runs. And my 95mph trap is terrible, this is why I'm changing to a 3.55 gear :fy:

I agree, he would do just fine against my truck as it sits, as would you, but it will only be sitting that way for another few weeks. :s00ls:

What did it run full weight?

I ran a handful of 14.2-14.3's with 2.3 60 foots, I got ONE good 2.1 60 foot full weight and managed 14.03 IIRC. I removed all the weight out of frustration, and aired the tires down to 18PSI and snapped off the 13.90 with a 1.99 60 foot.

I dropped probably 150lbs between the tail gate, and front/rear bumpers, and pass seat. The headlights/tail lights/signals/center caps couldn't have been more than 5lbs all together. It is really hard to get it off the line quickly, between the 4.10's, cheap tires, the blower, and having a fiberglass bed.

Back on-topic,

What are your 1/4th goals, and long-term plans for the truck?
