ya the two can't or shouldn't be compared and I only did this for the financial side, but to the imaplas defense its roughly the same size car, same technology up to the heated steering wheel, and drives solid.

And Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, which are fantastic. The 2016s came with CarPlay standard and Android Auto was a dealer software upgrade available after the car went on sale.

Also this is sort of why/how I traded my fun to drive quick mazdaspeed3 for a Malibu. My Malibu isn't an annoying rattle trap POS that is fully loaded with all the creature comforts. the Mazda just had speed only.

The in-laws have one. Huge room in back, way more than a Taurus. Interior seems solid, I'm surprised the brown leather still looks new on the driver's seat bolsters. They have munched at least 4 tires and 3 wheels though. Probably from my MIL not steering around potholes at all. They're pretty big, too. Can't remember if they are 20 or 21 inch. They also get 30-35 mpg on the highway.

The Bose and pano roof are nice in the summer when cruising around jamming some tunes, as long as you turn off the Centerpoint thing.

So far just one quality issue. The electric ebrake wouldn't disengage, stranding the car. Happened twice. Painful to see/hear it get dragged onto the flatbed.

Only beef I have is the weird shape of the steering wheel center.

These LTZ Impala's are nice. Probably the best interior GM has ever produced. And the prices on used LTZ's are not bad at all. Good choice.
