Very cool. I like the wheels. Just need different center caps.

Been busy working on the house but in the meantime I was looking for some headlight upgrades for the 510. Decided on BMW Ellipsoid housings and then kept a search out for D2S bi xenon hids to retrofit in them. In the middle of cutting up the housings and will have to fiberglass it back up once complete. Cutoff on the wall is great and the hella glass lenses still need to be cleaned/polished. Trying to decide if I should even bother keeping the 2nd lense that are just high beams or not.

Also snagged a DMC crimper kit for a song. Hoping to make my new engine harness and dash harness using mil spec wiring/connectors with a quick disconnect at the firewall. Currently my harness is all soldered and spliced together and doesn't quite make sense.

Pulling the dash out this weekend to start wiring that up.

I think most people doing retrofits just use jb weld or some kind of epoxy.

That is the goal. Just trying to fix everything so she is drivable.

Does remind me to add
Order Windshield wipers/motor
Add radio wiring to dash harness
Vintage air setup. (post wedding gift to myself)

Hoping finances clear up in about 2 months once all this wedding stuff is over. Just trying to get all the cheap time intensive stuff out of the way now.

So managed to pull the dashboard out last weekend and overall everything is in fairly good condition. Here you can see part of the mess of wiring that it came with. It was nicely tucked up but most of the wires weren't hooked to anything. The mess near the steering wheel is a temporary harness I made for lights/taillights etc.

Clutch and Brake switch that I need to hook into. Can see the Hazard and and ignition switch also. These will be getting new hookups also.

Dexter was curious about what I was working on, he doesn't like the race buckets though.

Going to try and get some pieces out to powdercoat and waiting on a bonus from work so I can pull the trigger on a stereo, hvac, speedhut gauges which should round out the basics for this car.

Hoping Satin black powdercoat will look nice on these.

Been spending about 2 nights coming up with the diagram for a new harness using all the OEM switches as I want everything to look as stock as possible. Stock all of your power runs through the Headlight and wiper switches. I am working to redo that so it is all through a relay.

Ordered a lot of supplies from https://www.corsa-technic.com/cart.php who are up in Wisconsin. Most of the connectors on this are also used on older japanese motorbikes so are still available. I made the choice to move to connectors for the dash that clip together as I still might track the car and vibration will knock anything apart if you let it.
Datsun-9 by Mark Olsen, on Flickr

Cleaned up and regreased the headlight and wiper switches. Then had to solder some new wires where they were missing and where somebody had used wire nuts that ended up causing a fire. The whole inside of the dash was covered in fire extinguisher stuff. Air compressor and a face mask took care of that.

Don't use wire nuts.. please.

New wire soldered on and new connectors crimped on

New connector and the headlight switch is ready for another 40 years. Pull once for running lights/dash lights, 2nd stop is headlights on. Highs are a pull on the turn signal stalk.

You can tell how much power went through these by how brittle they are from heat.

Cleaned up the pins and in a new case.

Wiper switch ready to go. Pull one spot for low, 2 for high and turn it for wiper fluid.

Also found a picture I took of the new fuel pressure regulator. Still need to mount it but will figure that out a little later.

So one of the main issues I am having is that it seems my Bosch 044 external fuel pump is so powerful it is overrunning the fuel pressure regulator I have. PSI at idle the lowest it can go is 45 psi at 14.4 volts

So I am left with trying to find a solution before I can start retuning the engine on megasquirt.
1. Larger return (might be needed anyways)
2. Smaller pump (more moneys)
3. Make a fuel pump regulator
4. Put a resistor in line of the pump so it runs slower.

So far I am leaning toward 3.
So I am working on putting together a proof of concept on the workbench right now that will use an arduino to send PWM to a ford fuel pump driver module out of the 2010 model mustangs.

Based on this info.
Megasquirt Support Forum (MSEXTRA) • MS3x Fuel Pump PWM with Ford FPDM (View topic)

If it works well I can attach this to one of the outputs on the megasquirt and then based on a map in the megasquirt it will ramp up the fuel pump as I need it. Should also quiet the pump down a bit which would be nice as the car is a little tinny a the moment inside.

I assume your passion must be rotary engines, because that car is not going to attract chics. Cheers to Intel as he must have a huge schlong.

fiance is out of town for the weekend so time to wrench. 6an 3/8 fuel hardlines/ford fpdm going in this weekend. 37 degree flare tool should be here tomorrow.

Hella supertones just arrived also so I can make the mounting for it and the engine bay harness.

Just shipped out the Dash pad, so should get that back in around 5-10 weeks. Lost the whole weekend to wedding planning/non car stuff so hoping to catch up this week.

I need to go back and fix all the photos but for now I just got my dash pad back from california. Sent it out over 4 months ago but the wait was worth it. Also threw in an old Alpine deck I got on craigslist which fits a lot better then the cd player I had. Got the Speedhut gauges in witg the fuel level needing some more worl to fit right. Might still add coolant temp oil temp and oil pressure below or just have them all linked into my phone to keep things cleaner. Got my pedal box out at Crown Customs to be powder coated satin black and then hopefully I can throw it all in the car and drive her some this season.
