This is my work pickup. It's a 6.0/4l80e 4x4 regular cab long box. It has right around 225k miles on it.

Reverse was weak when I bought it, but it's worked fine for a long time. The rear main seal leaked a lot. I would add a quarter of oil every 600-700 miles.

So after dealing with that a year and a half, reverse finally went out.

Yanked the old trans out.

So messy underneath.

I had all the steel cut and ready to weld up for a new bracket to mount the trans cooler to. Then, I figured the brace I was going to mount to, was aluminum. Surprised me. I didn't think something this old would have aluminum for a structural piece.

So, anyways I got my tig welder out...it's been about 3 years since I used it, so I needed to get a little practice in.

Starting to get things tacked into place.

Is that a tru cool LPD47391? If so or fittings are the same size, you can use dorman automatic trans cooler line connector 800-605 to adapt to the stock lines and use dorman 3/8 to 3/8 compression fitting p/n 800-205 to reattach the passenger side after cutting and reindexing 180 degrees, I also needed 2 more to extend the drivers side but relatively inexpensive solution and still oem fittings.

Summit racing part number for above are RNB-800-605 & RNB-800-205

I looked at doing that, but just decided to go with an lines and fittings instead.

It's been awhile since I updated. My tig welder runs on either 110 or 220. I've been running it on 110 for convenience, since the bracket I welded up is not very thick. But, I needed to weld a fitting into the oil pan, which is too thick for 110. So, I needed to add a sub panel and wire a 220 receptacle in my garage. Finished that up yesterday morning, and got the fitting welded in. I hope I never have to weld cast aluminum again. It's super difficult to weld, and impossible to get clean. The weld looks terrible, but it doesn't leak.

Capping it off for right now.

Got the oil pan back on, and using the rear cover alignment tool to center the rear cover.

And, got the flex plate back on.
