Just a 91' LX Hatch with Ford Power No LS swaps needed....

I've owned 6 foxbodies since my first 92Gt in 1999. This 91' Lx I have owned since 2008. When I bought it for 3400 bux it was a stock 302 5spd with twisted wedge 170's and a Powerdyne blower...Score:naughty: I ran it for a year and then had head gasket problems so I parted everything out and got a new built for boost 306 longblock and upgraded to a S-trim. Went to a Liberty faceplated Tko 600. Ran that combo for 2 years and then parted it all out and in 2012 started a new Dart N/A stroker build. It's a 8.2 deck pump gas friendly zero balance shortblock with a solid roller and a Jesel valvetrain so it is a 9000rpm screamer! Also went with a RMVB Auto this time around with a Dynamic Racing M2 rollerized C4 and their TcT Super 8 converter.:pedobear:

Since the last time I went to the track with it in early August I put in a Team Z tubular K member kit and a built 33 spline 5 lug 8.8 rearend with taller gears (went well into the 10's on the stock 8.8 rear :noes:) removed the carpet and sound deadening material. Removed all heater stuff and removed the power brake booster. Also sold my full Bassani exhaust, the longtubes which were 1&5/8" stepped to 1&3/4"'s were too small. I am going with Kooks 1&7/8" headers with 3.5" collectors and 3.5" x-pipe with bullets (previous exhaust was 3" all the way to the tips) and converting to manual brakes. Also putting in a Wolfe 10 point cage that I bought a few months ago in the next few weeks here. I will be putting on a plate kit and spraying this bitch this year!

This is the current state of the engine bay. Last week I started hiding wires and making/riveted in panels at the firewall to cover holes from the heater, clutch cable and wiper motor. This week I will be making some custom fender aprons for it.

Going to finish gutting out the interior and clean up the wiring for the cage this weekend.

^^Thanks Spivitz^^

Today I cleaned up/untangled all the wiring, also took out the headliner, all the window trim and took the hatch 1/4 panels out and painted all the grey to black with matching color interior paint from Late model restorations. 20.00 a can. I had 2 cans laying around. Went through it quick and now need 2 more cans for the door panels, another coat on the rest and some for touch ups. I might make some black aluminum door skins later on.

Made some aluminum fender aprons and wrapped the strut towers wrapped in thin aluminum. Made the fender aprons out of .050 aluminum. It wasn't easy to work with but it turned out like I wanted! Going to bag the motor and tape everything off and do a final coat on everything and call it good!
The paint I use is Duplicolor perfect match.

Wow, awesome job on the fender aprons. :bigthumb:

Thanks man, the top part of the apron has a slight radius to it so I had to pull out some tricks of the trade to achieve it. I do custom sheet metal for a living. Places that sell them online just rivet at the top of the radius or you weld in them there, mine go up and under the fender with the fender bolts holding it down.

Installed the Cage this weekend. Going to add x bars from the hoop to the upper torque boxes and some small diameter corner brace bars at the windshield to pillar bar and also at the main hoop to pillar in a few weeks.

Painted the cage before hand to get to all the hard spots. Will give it all a fresh coat and get to the wiring, interior and the dash this week. Need to get a kirkey seat & harness too!

Great job, looks sick! Did you bend all of that pipe yourself or did you buy a weld in kit?

Thanks man, it's a Wolfe pre bent and jig notched kit, had to fix the rear hatch bars and the shorten up the main hoop support kicker bars to put them there. It took 16hrs on the install, pretty nice kit most of the notching was spot on.

Got the headers tonight "Minty no dents" Kooks stainless 1&7/8" x 3.5" collector. The motor is going to breathe a lot better now, I had 1&5/8 stepped to 1&3/4 before. Scored them for 450 bux!:fy: I love saving money!:jg:

3.5" is a lot of pipe for exhaust, crazy!

Shifting around 8500ish rpm on motor it needs the bigger stuff. Plus I plan on going to a Procharger or something like a YSI maybe by next year and it will go good with that combo too! I got a custom blower cam already and will start scoring some deals on the rest of the stuff for a blow thru setup slowly.
