Wanted something safe and easier to build... will be total 3500lbs

we're still hoping for less than 3500 when done.

safe for sure... going clean sheet is a PITA but it lets us fix all the headaches and build the suspension for something more akin to a trophy truck to eliminate the problems that plagued the twin drivetrain cars of the past.

this is a nice fire to light under our ass, should be interesting to see the difference of our solutions.
its really too bad we cant yank the rear stuff out the top as easily as you'll be able to with a truck body

you gonna ditch the truck frame and make new lower rails?

Not with this project. We'll completely change the frame up front and go tubular and in the back too. But the middle of the truck will be close to the same. I'll make changes to be able to have a passenger.

The truck is based on the GM metric frame (Monte Carlo) but it's just the looks. Inside is a rectangular tubing.

I hope for 3500lbs max but with the heavy ass 4t80e and all cast 3.8 X 2 it's hard to keep weight down. I will probably go 4t65 up front to keep weight down.

I have another project, Nascar ACT race car it's all ready to go complete. Much better race car platform. But this one will be LS2 turbo AWD and 100% tubular and weight less than 3200lbs. Hoping for 3000lbs total.

Work has begun removing the two gtp engine setups and preparing the truck for the drivetrains.
I weighes the front clip complete with suspension tires, brakes rack and pinion engine trans, wiring battery, turbo etc... 1250lbs.
Rear will be 1350lbs+ with the cadillac 4t80e transmission.

So total drivetrain weight will be easily 2600lbs if not slightly more It's going to be hard to reach my 3500lbs race weight goal.
But I might reach 3700lbs race weight with me in it.
We'll see. Tomorrow we are going to have a better idea with the truck prepare to receive the drivetrains.

THanks for the good comments. It's nice to read because I do this for promotion of Turbo Dynamics as well. When you guys show your interest in the project, it makes it worth it for us. We know it will be a hit as well on the social medias !

BTW we are seriously thinking about leaving the body off welding in a big bumper all around and putting race studded tires and going on the lakes for a spin on an ice race track while waiting for summer ... :)
