Ok, car is almost done so figured I'd post up a build thread.
Found this car for sale on craigslist last summer looking for a mustang for my brother, had a hurt motor and all the owner knew was that it had no compression on cylinder 2. I offered him a price factoring in that I might need a whole long block from Tousley Ford, and thankfully I did cause I'm happy with what I have into it all said and done. So threw it on a trailer and brought it over to my buddies house.
Started with my own compression check and bore scoping. Found that cylinder 2 indeed had nada do to a dropped exhaust valve seat and thankfully there was no contact with the piston.
After a bit of research I found out its a very common issue and it's best to have all the seats replaced with tighter fitting seats. So off the heads went to PER for new seats. They also found 17 valve guides to be out of spec so those were replaced as well.
While it was torn apart I added 98 Cobra intake cams (slightly more duration), 26-spline input shaft and clutch, Metco lower (because I had to hack the stock lower into 30 pieces to get it off since it was siezed into the crank pulley), powder coated valve covers and painted all the brackets, and full Billetflow idler set.
Finally got the car started and running late November early December and drove it home. I recently decided to go with a return fuel system before I got it tuned so I could run E85 to help keep temps down, and of course add more timing to make more power .
So that's where it sits right now, waiting to install the fuel system and tune set for May 20th.
