GLAE Season Opener - April 10 / Gurnee IL Portillos

that's a rough question i don't have an answer for to be totally honest. i'd be happy with 1/4 of that. 
we've had some decent ones in the past at buona and the local malls.
i have clearance from portillos, gurnee mills security, marketing and the mills themselves, and gurnee pd to do the meat. so we'll see. i'm curious to see what our first 'big' event brings. we're still a baby page. just turned 2 on the 8th. looking into making a forum and what all that entails but also kinda just half considering keeping it as a facebook group. expecting to clear 2000 sometine in the next week and a half optimistically. i mean shit, we were only at 1930 members a few housr ago when i looked. we do weekly cars n' coffee shits and friday night meet n' eats similar to lukes. i wouldn't honestly mind seeing some tcg people out but i know nobody really wants to lol. i figured i'd share here just in case it could end differently.

On Tuesday morning, I had this crazy idea. Let's throw a tester meet at Portillos on Friday night with a 3 day lead time and see what happens. I took *two* photos. I wanted to see what others would take and post.
Here's a few randoms that attendees took.
I told a few of the regulars to park their cars off to the side, so here's that.
The two I took.. a good friend of mine is a sales manager at a Fiat/Alfa dealer and he brought him and 3 of his salesmen up with some Abarths.
I'm confident I can inflate this April 10th meet to a decent size.
HOWEVER.
I need to speak with Portillos corporate again , Gurnee Mills Security and Gurnee Police and make sure they're still cool with it. I told them I'd follow up a few weeks before the event. A cop who had no idea about tonight (I'd let security know, as well as the police dept about this meet) showed up and asked what was going on. Passed him an event flyer for our next three events and he actually got out and was walking amongst the crowd bullshitting with people. Really chill event.

Thanks Mike. I always organized small events when I was in the impala gang and decided I'd try my hand at a legit parking lot take over. The amount of bullshit in coordinating events is difficult at first but I'm getting better with it. Trying to find new locations for this stuff is sketchy. This was not bad for creating the event three days ago. I wish forums weren't going by the wayside, cause it's so much better than a group type deal.
