Really, it sounds like Yeti got greedy or was losing too much money and had to change their discount programs. Bit them in the ass either way. I don't feel bad for a company that charges that much for a cooler...Absolute nonsense.

i was thinking about this, and the more i thought about it, the people buying these coolers, are likely the ones who care about the NRA shit

i have an expensive ass pelican bearproof asteroid proof missile proof cooler that holds less than half of a cooler it's similar size that i won at a charity auction like two years ago.

i guess when people "need" these crazy ass coolers for trips into the backwoods camping/off grid/canoeing for a while, being able to keep ice for 7-10 days straight is necessary and these hardcore sportsman are likely also hardcore nra supporters.

yeti failed hilariously bad at handling this. their marketing and legal department have to be shitting themselves.

I have 1 Yeti tumbler. It was free from work with our new companys insignia on it. Sits in the cabinet collecting dust. Use a 7 dollar walmart brand one on the daily. I understand this has nothing to do with the op.

Hope this helps.

That's the part that has me dying, how could you not know this would happen in this climate right now? Are their marketing people that dense?

Meanwhile let's put out an Instagram statement a few days later that has the last line say we support the constitution including the second amendment while starting it with essentially saying the NRA are liars.

If the NRA was indeed lying I would think that their best option would have been to release the statement they sent to the NRA that said they were just cancelling that program but offering them a new program instead.

Yeti even if what they say is true, should have known dropping the NRA program at this time when our 2nd is being challenged by crazy folks / kids, that this would happen. I have no sympathy for their bad decision making. will i throw away my yeti goods? hell no i paid for them, will i support them with future consumer purchases? most likely not.

and for those knocking the cooler for its price tag, people who need shit to stay cold for long periods of time will pay because it works.

I use a couple of cheap coolers, one of which my dad gave me since he had about 12 of them.

They work fine and ice holds up for a good day or so, if not a bit more.

Shit ainít this simple any more unfortunately. Every major business pretty much has a social agenda. You need to associate your brand with something as part of your marketing. Very few things stand alone as just a product.

Chevy truck-for the working man
REI- for the environmentally conscious outdoorsy person
Planet Fitness-a gym where youíre safe from being intimidated by people that actually look like they spend time in the gym

You find a niche by focusing on something, and by doing that you alienate others

That's the beauty of it.

You need not spend hundreds of dollars on one.

I'm not a die hard camper or outdoorsy cool dude, so, a day is perfect, since any alcohol or food inside will be consumed in all its glory.

exactly. you aren't yeti's target market whatsoever... you yourself need not spend hundreds of dollars on one...

and more than likely don't care about what the NRA does or doesn't do.

yeti's/pelicans/rtic's/whatever the fuck overpriced coolers aren't meant for you to go to the concert in the park for a night.

they're meant to keep ice & food cold for a week in the boundary waters... or keep bait fresh in 110* and humidity on the back of a fishing charter.

i'd bet a solid chunk of yeti's coolers sold last year, were sold to NRA supporters. who their move inadvertently alienates by them saying/doing anything.

Good points.

I do support the NRA, but, something like this is trivial.

The only thing I spend money on are good vacuum insulated water bottles, like Hydroflask and Klean Kanteen. Cold water for nearly two days is awesome. Plus, I drink a shit ton of water, at least 100oz a day.

because i drink 160-200 oz a day.... so it staying cold is really relative when it's getting chugged

It's actually my favorite city haha.

We were in town for the MotoGP race at Circuit of the Americas, but I'm down there quite a bit for work also. Always have a good time.

Had a vacuum-insulated bottle in the saddle bag of my rental Road Glide all weekend, stayed nice & cool in the TX springtime 80* weather.

Camelbak makes decent bottles.

I've had some plastic ones and since I'm in/out of the warehouse at work, I've dropped them and broken them. The metal ones I have tend to last.

Bought my wife these and they are cheap, durable and keep the water cold.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

She has three bottles, haha.

One big one I like is the Hydroflask 64oz growler. Huge, I drink 2-3 a day sometimes and if I fill it with ice and leave, water is still cold 2-3 days later.

I managed to find my Hydroflask bottle on sale for under $20, so, it's not too bad.

Austin is your favorite city, eh?

Wife and I are vacationing in TX end of May. First few days in Addison and the last four days in Austin.

Any recommendations on great food and shit to do?
