I wouldn't leave an expensive knife in view in a car. Thieves are guys, too, and they will break a window to grab a knife.

I had that happen when I stupidly left my radar detector in sight at a bowling alley.

My pants are tight, but if I'm going to spend 400+ dollars I'm buying a g43 first, I'd like a cheaper front opening auto benchmade though

I went ahead and bought a Gerber mini-covert for the wife and a Covert for me. Both are S30V steel, full auto and made in the usa.

The mini is 2.8" and weighs 2.1oz. The standard is 3.8" and weighs 3.8oz.

Here is what they look like (not my exact knives, be here later today)

Get one used. I have seen them go pretty cheap if nobody bids them up.

I was kicking myself Friday night when a brand new looking John Deere commemorative knife and case went for $5 at the auction. I had just bought a $2,500 Sleep Number bed for $200 and wasn't paying enough attention.

It's probably not worth much more than that but it was a pretty little knife and it was $5. Would have made a good stocking stuffer.

This looks like a really good daily carry knife. Simple, elegant and has the serrated blade to add usefulness.

Schrade used to make an assisted otf knife named "extreme survival" wth plastic handle and also in aluminium . Pretty cheap . But it's more of a gimmicky knife to have , but the blade action was very quick . Awkward to open and very awkward to close with one hand .

I want that one but they aren't producing that model till late this year. Microtech like that I've seen for like 2-250.

Can't buy that one just yet. Need to find a dealer who will order it for me

New addition. The infidel I purchased turns out to be a bit too radical for EDC due to its dagger style blade. Whodathunk?

first one is better! cool factor is definitely off the charts with the infidel. but that dagger blade is tougher to work with than I anticipated. I guess I touch the back of a blade more often than I realized.

Ya, there is no "back side" of the blade on that how many times have you cut yourself?

Haven't cut myself at all, but I've nicked a nail or two flipping it around in my hand for various work. I really do use my knives for all sorts of tasks.... the dagger was ok 70% of the time, but it makes finesse work difficult as you can't really hold the blade safely. Plus the Infidel is SHARP as hell!
