Saw that today via email alert from Sig.

Nice looking piece, but, I have this feeling it is slightly larger than the P938.

I like the capacity on it for sure, but, definitely happy with the 938 as it stands.

Will take a look into this later on.

That thing looks awesome! I'm still spooked though with Sig's firing when dropped...

Im still disappointed it was such a hassle to get a trigger safety on the P320 that I went with a Glock 26 instead.

What are everyone's thoughts on the new LCP 2 as a pocket pistol? I've heard and read nothing but positive about it. At least compared to the original LCP.

Went shooting again today, shot much better this time around....

Absolutely overwhelmed at the sheer amount of companies making shit for the AR to start my own build.... Are there any companies you all suggest to stay away from?

I'm thinking Seekins NX15 upper and lower receivers, other than that I'm still digging around. Too much crap to look into.

So how would someone go about "trading" a gun? Like you have something I like, they want something I have and it's a straight up trade. Does a dollar amount have to come into the equation no matter what? Like giving a car for free has to have a value so you use $1 as a value?

In IL? You would just run the FOID check as if you were buying/selling and then do it as normal. Is there a value on the form? I don't recall.

The form doesn't have any value on it. Think you just need to put the person's FOID info in there, print off the certificate and fill it out, and vice versa. Then just hold on to the paperwork.

I haven't heard of companies to necessarily stay away from at all costs, it really just depends on what you're willing to spend. I know guys that have spent ~$500 building an AR with parts near as cheap as you can find, and they have had great luck with them. I also know guys that spend $3k on their build, and scoff at anything not Noveske, Daniel Defense, etc. That said, if a part seems to cheap to be true, I'd probably stay away from it.

Aero, Ballistic Advantage, Spikes Tactical, Magpul, Luth, Midwest Industries, Surefire, Geissele, Radian Weapons, Seekins are the brands I've used for my builds and I can attest to everything being very high quality and my builds have come in in the ballpark of $1k.

Thanks!

I'm thinking 16" .223 wylde barrel for the build. I would want a mid length gas system for that correct? I'm seeing some that are carbine length but I would think mid length would be a little better?

I was looking at the Odin Works barrels because they came with a gas block when you buy them, but am still digging around like crazy.

I went with mid length on my 16" AR, but I've seen it argued to death on AR15.com. Mid length seems to be the go to for 16 inch barrels though, and carbine for shorter.

And good call on 223 wylde. You can shoot 556 and 223 ammo, and theoretically get the benefit of a 223 barrel. Below is the barrel I used for my 16" AR15 build. It comes with the gas block, and pre-tapped with a pin included so you are guaranteed perfect alignment. My goal was accuracy and light weight, and this thing came in at 22oz, and has been accurate as can be.

Any reason to go to 18" or more for something that'll be for shooting at the range?

I know GAT is only 75 yards indoor, but was hoping when it's nicer to find some places that are around 200-300 yards as well....

Not really worried about weight with this build, I can already tell there will be two builds in my future at least.

AR15 with a 16 inch barrel can hit 200-300 yards all day. I shoot at McMiller, and can hit the target at 300 yards consistently with barrel I posted above.

I'm finishing up a "longer range" build now with an 18" barrel, and went AR10 instead of AR15

McMiller is badass. Have to get up there in the spring time for some shotgun trail.

I agree though. 200-300 yards out of an AR is fine. Any longer and IMO you would want a different weapon and projectile.

Does anyone have a list of tools and tooling one would need to build their own AR's?

Get one of these too. You put it in the pivot pin hole, push the spring/retainer assembly through it. After that, you rotate it 90 degrees. Swap the pivot pin in, and you're done. Some people like to sproing these across the room.

The build I specc'ed out has a ton of Seekins parts in it, almost wonder if it would be easier just to buy one of their complete rifles, but the fun is building something usually for me...
