hey guys glad to be here. im rebuilding my 2004 grand prix comp g gtp 3.8... it chipped two pistons (bad tune) and broke a valve spring. anyways new trans is already in. but here goes what parts i have for my build so far.

TOG headers
3"catless DP
corsa catback
k&N cai
8 rib 3.4/3.2 pulley. plan on running 3.0 with new build.... no intercooler in mind
JE .20 over forged coated pistons
XP cam
1.8 yella terra rockers. puts my XP at .585/.603
heads are getting ported polished, stock size valves. gasket matched LIM/heads
machining valve guides .060 for crow #130 valve springs. manley titanium retainers
comp valve locks
ARP head studs
ARP main studs and cross bolts
ARP rod bolts
ARP flywheel bolts
rollmaster double timing set

i still have to purchase new rods. debating on new L32s from intense.. or zzps aftermarket ones... going to order 8 rib (no over drive) ATI balancer and mezier flexplate if they have correct pattern for my converter i have to look into that some more. not to mention a sea of other parts.. but thats why im here

northwest indiana, tri town region, thanks! my monte was a v6 one owner car when i got her in 2009.. sbc now. turbo LS based 5.7 in process. as far as intercooling ive been having john rucker help me part my car together.. i already had xp cam from my girlfriend for christmas. he told me to run my yt 1.8s, do my heads and since i have a healthy exhaust set up it should flow well. he said for that amount of money for intercooler set up i should see how this car performs with out it at first? this whole 3800 thing has been so stressful guys. i keep asking myself what did i get into. and its all so expensive lol

what compression is it going to be? the Meziere flex plate will only bolt to the gt or aftermarket converters, id stick with stock rods, the stock long block will take 2-3x the power that a maxed out supercharged build can make, and i would hit it with e85 if your not going to intercool, it should be able to make a little over 300whp with no intercooler on e85 with that set up with out e85 and no intercooler you will be dissipointed, and welcome 3800 bro

8.5:1, & is it expensive to convert to e85??

no your going to need to do a pump and injectors anyway for your build might as well just get bigger ones lol, 60's should work for you on e85 and a 255 walbro and rewire and your in buisness, i had an 06 with a similar set up but used the s1x cam and 9.5:1 compression i ran a 3" pulley on e85 no intercooler it made 280whp on a 3.4 pulley and 93 octane

Welcome!!!! I'm not saying this to be mean, but can you return those pistons? A stock short block can be had for less than $300 these days and should be able to handle almost any amount of SC power. An IC will make it easier for you to make more power, and if your not tuning it yourself, the IC will make the motor "safer" than a one time e85 tune, especially if you get a tank of e70 and don't know it.
