Default Mid-engine 3800 Series 1

Hi all, I'm building a mid-engine '80s mini-truck using a 1995 Buick Series I 3800.
I'm looking to get smart on what all I can do for free/nearly free to make the truck faster in the 1/4. Also, how the set up the stock trans.
Unlimited labor from me is in the budget, $12.93 is in the money budget. (Just kidding but the point is to not spend any money unless it's near free junk yard parts that can be modified and installed.
The build page is: https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/fo...u/45173/page1

Thanks - Cris

Thanks. I try and do something each day even if I only have 30 minutes to work.
Today I got the rear of the bed secured with two brackets. Often it seems like not much is done but by the end of the week, you can be amazed on how much actually did get done.

Started wiring the truck today... I wish I had another Riviera in the driveway to figure this all out. It's been 10 years since
I've originally pulled the harness!
There are updates on the build page if anyone is interested.

Using a later s2 3800 harness from a w body gives you a nearly stand alone harness with thinner wiring for less weight.

Snag a blower snout/pulley from the 93 and older m62 ....its a smaller pulley since they improved the sc design in 94/95 they spun it slower...

... for some reason I recall that the twin dual cam 3.4 V6 4t60 e transmission had a different final drive ratio differential with better gearing that would be easy to swap into your trans. You're trans is about as good as it gets being a 4t60E HD.

You could pop the valve body off and shim the Boost valve to increase line pressure

Default Alternator Relocation

I moved the alternator to the bottom right as looking at the engine from the front in a longitudinal orientation.

I was thinking of trying to find a 5PCW 4T60E trans from a 2.3 Quade N-body, it has a 3.96 overall gear ( the highest I have been able to find) and it has the highest stall at 2363 rpm.
What I don't know is, how high will that stall change in my car? I assume that it will rise up a bit, maybe 3,000 rpm?? From what I can tell, I can get my engine up to about 240hp by porting the head myself (I worked at a head shop years ago and I'm familiar with the job) along with your pulley recommendation and blending the blower ports. I have a 100 shot NO2 kit going on as well. My concern is fuel. I'm going to run a dedicated line for the fuel pump to ensure good steady voltage to the pump. I don't know how much the stock injectors can support, I haven't gotten to that research yet. So that is air and fuel, any issues with these cars ignition set up?

I'm also considering changing the rocker ratio by welding up the oem bowl and moving it towards the fulcrum to change from a 1.6:1 ratio to a 1.8:1 ratio. Has anyone run 1.8:1 with stock springs? Any issues?

Default OEM injector specs

I looked up my injectors, they can support 361 hp at 95% duty cycle, well probably a bit less as the BSFC is probably a bit worse. In any case, I don't expect to make more than 350 even with the NO2. I don't know what the fuel pump can support, any one know off hand?

I think 350 at the wheels would probably be pushing it pretty hard. Might not be able to keep up with the flow needed. Not 100% on that one though. @Turbocharged400sbc

Look up FPR crushing. May get you a few lb/min. I will say I would spend the bread on a good in tank pump even if I cheaped out everywhere else.
