I've been trying out Sling TV. Both packages plus premium channels comes out to about $90 (with 50 hours of recordable dvr). Just need to get use to it a bit. Add an antenna and you should be good as well.

I think I should just write down everything I watch during a week or two and see what channels I'm actually using and go from there.

Update...

Comcast dude showed up today to install the home automation crap in the house. Found out it *must* be installed and active at all times, not like the phone service at all - like I was initially told by the customer service lady.

He furthermore tells me I have access to gigabit internet service right now.... which is pretty damn awesome because the Xfinity portal shows that I can only get 150mbps.

So I cancelled the home automation install today and therefore, also the $195/mo deal for all cable programming.

Called Comcast. Tell them I want to go to gigabit internet service only, possibly retain my phone service to keep my "home #" that I've had for 12 years. The internet service is $139.99/mo +$11/mo for the mandatory equipment rental +tax title license costs.

Ask what the cost is for 150mbps service and phone services only, but then the lady offers me 150mbps internet, all my same HD cable programming (less HBO), and I keep my phone service... cost is $165/mo! This isn't a bad price at all. I agreed, and they reset my services which gave me the internet speed test results above.

I've also signed up for YoutubeTV, a Roku and a Firestick to test them all out. I have a feeling I'll eventually get tired of all of it, find which e-TV service suits me and then reduce service all the way to internet only.

So far, YTTV is pretty decent. Quality is good. No buffering. Audio is clear and doesn't seem to be using lower quality signals. The only thing I can say is that frame rates seem a bit slow or laggy when you first tune a channel in, sort of like how Netflix sends a low quality signal at first, then improves to full quality within a minute or two... if that makes sense.

So, good news is... I shaved nearly $100 off my Comcast bill. That feels good.

DIrecttv now is running a deal on their streaming service for $10/month for the first 3 months with a cancel anytime contract. I may suspend PlayStation Vue for a couple months and try this service to see if I like it better.
