Oh man. Sounds like they sat back and looked at everything Nintendo did wrong w/ the mini and said, lets do the opposite of all that.

The system comes with 85 games built in — including seven Sonic titles, Virtua Fighter 2 and Altered Beast — as well as a cartridge slot so you can play “most” of your Genesis and Mega Drive games. Two 2.4ghz wireless controllers, not infrared, are included in the box.

“Other new features for the Sega Genesis Flashback include 720p HDMI output, scan line filtering, and a save/pause/rewind feature for every game,” the company states.

No price yet. But the release is scheduled for "september"

Sega does what nintendon't, indeed.

Doesn't seem to have any of the games you've all requested. No Moonwalker, no Toe Jam and Earl, no Street Fighter. This kinda blows.

How many times are they gunna release sonic the hedgehog lol. If you havn't been able to find a way to play this game before this thing. The re-released it on every console since the gamecube pretty much.

You can play it for free on a browser.

But it has a cartridge port, so shouldn't it play any of the old physical cartridges? If it does, then you don't really need to worry about the on-board games. you can just plug in your old games, or a shoebox of games you probably bought at a garage sale for $5 total.
Using a cartridge is what I'm hoping for. I liked gauntlet too

I wish I would run into shoeboxes of retro games at garage sales for $5. Ive been doing that quite a bit this year and so far Ive seen very little retro games, and the ones I did see they wanted more than ebay prices. No thanks.

The only reason to buy this is for the cart support. Otherwise, once again, just build yourself a retropie and call it a day.
