I grew up with Comcast. I HATED it when HD first came around as far as having to set everything up to make HD tolerable.
I've been with DirecTV for almost 5 years and my contract is up later on this year. The prices are getting a little ridiculous in my opinion. I'm at $133/month for a middle of the channels package with HBO added on. I have the wireless receiver in my basement, but that was "free" with renewing a new contract for 2 years. I think I pay $7/month to use the 2nd receiver though, which is included in the $133. I was at $140 a few days ago until I called a dropped MTV music and a few extra HD channels I wasn't using.
I use Comcast 75mbps internet for another $79.99/month. I'm at $200 a month and I feel like it is way too high.
I was looking on Comcast's website and came across the "premium 2 play" package which appears to give me the X1 DVR plus every movie channel for $150/month with the 75mbps included. Now....this doesn't include the fine print....
-What does a 2nd box for another room cost?, is it DVR capable?
-Does the X1 allow HD channel watching to be tolerable where you don't have to search channels all over to find HD?
-Any other benefits
Switching seems like a no brainer if the price is as good as advertised. I would even consider ditching DirecTV earlier and paying a cancellation fee with the amount I could save.
DirecTV always gives the "juicy deals" at the end of your contract, but they don't lower your price, they just give you better equipment. I've been pretty aggressive with wanting to leave before and all they have offered is a $10/month bill credit due to having some equipment.
Anyone do it?
