I think the Chief is finally "broken" or somewhat unstable at the least. Something that was hinted at by the interrogator in the Halo 4 opening cinematic. We saw it in-game during Halo 4 with his desire to save Cortana. Not even knowing that Halsey was locked up and wouldn't have been allowed to even try to save her to begin with.

John has lost other Spartan IIs to war, and none have been that traumatic as Cortana sacrificing herself at the end of Halo 4. So I really think he's definitely obsessed with trying to save her. He's holding the damaged memory crystal in the one desert teaser with the forerunner bird thing.

So I wonder what lengths the MC is willing to go to for a chance at saving her, even if there isn't any proof she still exists. What crimes might he be willing to commit for a chance? Halo 4 was probably the best story of the 4 MC centered games, followed by Halo 2.

Bout god damn time they brought the team over from the books (nerd alert)

Halo 5's campaign stars multiple Spartans, and one ODST, in both single-player and co-op | Polygon

Halo 5: Guardians' story campaign will feature the Master Chief and his fabled Blue Team in single-player and cooperative play, according to the July 2015 issue of Game Informer magazine.

The Master Chief himself, John, is joined by Linda, Kelly and Fred. While the four Spartan II super soldiers have fought together in Halo's expanded universe, Halo 5 will mark their first notable appearance together in a Halo game. They are the four members of Blue Team as it exists in the mid-26th century.

Game Informer reports that in solo play, Fred, Kelly and Linda will appear in cutscenes and follow the Master Chief's commands during the game. In co-op, each of the four players takes the role of one of the members of Blue Team, with unique loadouts for John, Kelly, Fred and Linda.

Halo 5's campaign also stars Office of Naval Intelligence agent Jameson Locke, a playable character who is tasked with tracking down the Master Chief and Blue Team. Agent Locke recruits his own squad for the mission, according to Game Informer. Called Fireteam Osiris, the group consists of Spartan IV soldiers including a returning fan favorite: Edward Buck (Nathan Fillion), the Orbital Drop Shock Trooper featured in 2009's Halo 3: ODST.

God damn, 35 maps in all.

More details about Halo 5: Guardians are available in the print edition of Game Informer, notably that the game will launch with more than 20 multiplayer maps, all of them for free, and that an Xbox Live Gold subscription is not necessary for the online co-operative play accompanying the game's campaign mode.

Another 15 DLC maps will be available by June 2016, the story says, along with dozens of other details concerning the story and the characters of Halo 5. The fireteam commands also are given a brief explanation.

Further, Microsoft will speak more about a "completely new, epic multiplayer experience" for the game at E3, one that involves "all aspects of the Halo sandbox for the first time ever."
