Default Egr valve problems

Hello Ive never posted anything on any forum before so please bear with me.
I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant, today I cleaned out the EGR valve and when I was disconnecting one of the hoses some black greasy liquid squirted out for 2 seconds. I continued to take out the valve, cleaned it, and put everything back together
Now my car has a rough idle and will turn of if I don't constantly press the gas. I have now idea what's going on and I must fix asap. Please help thank you

Could have a vacuum leak, or the valve is stuck open or something
