I know this isn't most people's cup-o-tea, but, one thing I've always been in to is lawn tractors and other random types of equipment. Friends of my parents owned a John Deere dealership so I pretty much grew up loving the stuff. I have tons of toys, jackets, hats, etc all sporting my favorite green... FWIW I think daturbosix and I are probably going to be the only two posting in this thread, but, screw it.

Here's my collection.

John Deere 420. 20 Horsepower Onan 2-cyl Air-Cooled Gasoline
Front/Rear PTO, front/rear live hydro, 60" cutting deck, 54" snow blade, CAT-0 3-Point.

John Deere LX176. 14 Horsepower Kawasaki 1-cyl Air-Cooled Gasoline
38" Cutting Deck. No thrills, just a mower that needed some love.

Just bought a house with a broken down 322 in the garage, next weekend's task is to try to nurse it back to life. Hasn't run in three years apparently. I'm good with cars but I'm not sure what to expect with this thing.

The 322 is a great machine. That Yanmar LC gas is a good motor as well. Should also have a rear 3-point, or at least the provisions for one to be added for tillers, back blades, etc...

Yeah everything I've read says to expect it to be a good machine if taken care of.

The problem is, the PO (who went ahead and got a zero turn) had lent it to a relative, who probably treated it like it wasn't his own and returned it on a trailer in non-working status, so I'm wondering just how deep that rabbit hole is. Hopefully not deeper than my pockets but we'll see. Prior to lending it out, they had all service done at the dealer out here, so that's good I guess. I'm kind of excited to finally have a lawn tractor and use it for all kinds of stuff and get all sorts of attachments I don't need. Never had one of these things before and I grew up in a house where the parents didn't need automated/motorized equipment because... well... as they said to us kids all the time, "your legs aren't broken".

I have a Crapsman LTX1000. It was a special "limited" model of some sort. What made it special was that it had more power than other similar sized Crapsman tractors of that vintage and for a 42" mower deck. This is a Briggs 21.5HP V-twin, 6 speed trans, etc. I use ot to mow, plow, and have the leaf bagger attachment, so it gets used/abused appropriately.

This was the one I posted pics of, with me stuffing it in the old van;

With that said, I would like (at some point), get one of those newer John Deere's with the drive over deck for easier mounting. Something that is a PITA on mine. Enough to which, I've left it on the past few winters, even though, I am plowing. :D

I decided i needed a new lawnmower last year after buying an acre lot. i considered an old beast but couldn't find anything worth buying after scouring CL for a few months i caved. i researched and researched and finally decided on a brand new cub cadet. essentially the JD version of exactly the same spec was $400 more or so for nothing as far as i read all the way across the interwebs.
