Reports of 4 inches of snow, then rain, then 20 more inches of snow. I am VERY surprised on how many people actually leave the boats in the water year round. Its Kentucky not Florida!

Floaty stuff not so floaty when you make it weigh 4-5x extra and crash buildings into them.

Holy insurance claims batman! :eek4:

Most of the boats are on lifts. Its the roofs that was the problem.

they are floating lifts though. not one of those lifts is sitting on the bottom of the lake...

so Eagle was in fact correct with floaty stuff not bein' so floaty.

what are you surprised about?

it doesn't freeze.... it's a son of a bitch to get boats in and out of the water there, why not just leave them in...

the boats are massive, the lake is massive, good launches are few and far between, it's extremely costly to use a lift. a lot of the marinas dont even have launches, the surrounding areas are so hilly. and if they do, it's a sonofabitch to get a 60 foot long boat on a trailer back to it.

Only "big" boat experience I have is Lake MI and only ~39'. Gets hoisted out every year. I didn't know it was such a PITA down der in KY

well that's because michigan freezes. these lakes down there don't freeze. sure it snows occasionally, but the water won't freeze.

why take it out of the water, and winterize all the systems, and disconnect all the systems and blah blah blah if the water isn't going to freeze.

I know that...

I thought he was commenting on boats sinking because of the snow. It was those damn "boat houses" clasping.

Personally, if it was still an "off-season" and I wasn't using it for several months, I'd take it out. But I also like over-maintaining toys.

but this is different. some people live in these marinas year round... it's totally fine and acceptable to leave the boats in year round. why waste thousands upon thousands of dollars on getting the boat out and stored when it's fine to leave in.

Id hope at minimum they are winterized. I wouldn't want to take that gamble.

The ramp at State dock I use was one of the nicest ive seen. It was probably 200ft wide. Nice 150+ deep cove. I was swingin

why would you winterize it?! that makes no sense. nothing at all could or would or possibly will happen to an engine in a boat, floating, in liquid unfrozen water

and even if it were to freeze, it wouldn't ever freeze solid enough there to do any harm whatsoever to an engine.

that launch has to be that wide and nice to get houseboats in

BECAUSE I GOT EAGLE STACKS SO I'LL PULL OUT WHEN I WANT KJ!

that sounds dumb. eagle buys cool things. he doesn't waste money on silly things like you would do.
