Clicking while trying to start, does not turn over

I had an old car that would do this occasionally. Turn the key and get nothing, maybe a click.

It was always the battery terminals. They would get a layer of corrosion between them for some reason. I always had to clean them with one of those wire brush battery terminal cleaners.

Check:

- battery connections that are clean
- battery good and charged
- before you go further starter solenoid could be going bad. Not familiar with ours, but in the old days you could tap it a few times to see if it manages to get it to go. The Trooper, unfortunately did this to me TWICE, and the solenoid is in the started, which means more money.
