13.0 back then was Hauling Ass!

My pal bought a 1989 5.0 5 speed brand new. I put a few miles on it, it was awesome.
It was running 13.5x, bolt on Powa!

I always loved that intake manifold, what a crazy looking setup. For some reason I have a thing for them like the BXRs on the Fords. Also one of the only third or fourth gen F-bodies to come with an axle that didn't suck. A cool car with a super high price tag to begin with. Although times have moved on I wouldn't consider it a slouch at this point.

Collectibility aside I"d still be inclined to take a TTA though.

Considering a 1992 Mustang 5.0 made 225hp and the standard vette made 300hp, this thing was a monster with 350hp / 390tq.

The fact that they had all that motor work, a 6 speed trans and a Dana 60 make it easier to justify the cost. But damn it was not cheap at all. I wish I had the money for one of them back then. I would love to own one now. lol

Still my all time favorite car.

I had a chance to buy a 92 Firehawk years ago. But I still owned my Camaro SS that I wanted to sell.

I remember reading about the only 1992 Firehawk convertible in Pontiac magazine years ago. If I remember correctly. It was built by SLP for a huge Firebird/Trans Am collector who loves rare Pontiac convertibles. It was the only 91/92 Firehawk to use a Trans Am body with the Formula hood as well as being the only convertible. I thought I recall it had every available Firehawk option too.

I may even still have the magazine.

I had a red 1989 WS6 Formula, T-Top, 5.0 TPI, 5 speed. It's still one of my favorite cars. Not the fastest but for sure super fun racing around Chicago with the tops off.

SLP eventually built a mini rammed 406 aluminum sbc making serious power. It was one of the later cars in 92.

But yeah. 60k Firebird in the early 90s. A serious machine for its day.
