Unlike any of the heavier, detuned streel-legal versions of the 911 GT1 that Porsche sold in 1996 and 1997, this particular car was one of Porsche's actual race cars during the 1990s. It took a podium spot in the 24 Hours of Daytona, and has since been converted for street use. How? Surprisingly, they didn't have to do much.
All the engineers had to do was soften the suspension, swap on some road-legal tires, and install a couple of catalytic converters. That's it. Do those things to your GT1 race car, and you can register it in no time—at least in Europe, anyway.
