Is This the Best "Unique" Platform For an LS Swap?

Been trying to figure out what I want to do for my next car project and came across this gem while searching for ideas as I am thinking about some unique wagon style. This is from several years ago, so some of you might be familiar with this build. But it is absolutely fantastic!

I think the wagon is fantastic. It's sexy...I'm in the group that while ls swaps have become the norm and actually pretty straightforward, it's not unique anymore. Maybe see what else you can bolt into one. A 2j or something.

I guess I phrased it a bit off. Unique in regard to the platform that a motor swap was put into. I think there are way more unique motors that would be pretty awesome. Two of which you guys just mentioned would be more fitting. Swapping one of the m5 motors into one of these would be sweet as well.

The part that was unique for this LS swap was the built manual 6 speed and ls6 motor. Big bucks in those two parts alone. I think the dude sold it for close to 40k when he was done.

These tourings are pretty cheap to get and the swap kit that includes the oil pan, motor mounts, and trans mount aren't that much money (depending on which kit you go with). Might be my next project. A turbo 5.3 would look nice in there.

i'm on the don't LS swap everything because it's getting played out bandwagon. All for it in a straight line speed car or muscle car. Just meh in something like a bmw

It seems really straightforward with a ls1/t56 combo sans wireing. Do It.

I have been keeping my eye out for a E91 M Sport manual. But they are not selling cheap. haha But those wagons have caught my eye for sure. A LS1, Coyote or N54 would work. haha
