This is actually pretty neat if you're willing to spend the money. Older generation vehicles with Ford's SYNC system probably experience the same lag and overall sluggish and uncooperative feel of the SYNC system like I do in my F350. I've had a chance to play around with the new system and it is leaps and bounds better. Doing some research today on what it would cost to replace my SYNC unit in the event of a failure (out of warranty now) and I came across this. Apparently it's pretty much a hardware swap-out to upgrade to the SYNC 3 system in older vehicles. I'd consider doing this in the future.

Android and Apple car play are now integrated, the ability to run side-by-side screens showing nav/cellular/media and a much smoother interface.

At that point just use the maps through the car play... I use my phone most of the time anyways. Much easier to just copy/paste than to try and talk to it or plug it in via the interface. I'm going to try the update on my current one and see how I like it. This is the next step.

You can do this to anything with MFT/Sync2 honestly, it's just getting brackets to fit the car & Sync3 screen

I've been having issues with mine either taking a while to come on after the car is already moving. It'll just be a blank screen for a bit before it comes on.

My phone also self-disconnects and then can't find it to re-connect. I end up having to restart BT on my phone and it'll eventually link up.

I'll get info from him, & get it to you gays.

Another thing you should be looking into is FORScan. Program is free, just need a windows laptop with bluetooth and the OBDLink Dongle (~$80). Can change alllllll kinds of shit in your Ferd's computers.

For example, in my '15 I can enable auto-folding mirrors and global open/close windows from the fob, neither of which were options for 15+ F-150s. Sooooo much stuff. Link below is giant spreadsheet of 2015+ F-150 parameters that can be manipulated & what they do. Other sheets should be available for other FoMoCo vehicles if you poke around.

Thats impressive I must say. Hows it been through that time period? Lots of maintenance or anything break bad?

Absolute dream. With the current options it's like a command center. Live dopplar radar, etc. Great on winter runs down I80. Just regular 5k mile oil changes and 10k fuel filters. DEF when it tells me it's below 1/2 (just fill up at OTR truck stops where it's available at the pump). Had the coolant tested once and it didn't need any additives at 50k. The oil pan gasket was replaced on the lower pan (can remove to do oil pump without removing anything else, cool design) and a new wastegate actuator was put on the eliminate compressor surge in TC lockup around 50mph. Other than that, all systems go. Still 100% stock, will be deleting within the next year.

Here's the weather screen.

I would possibly be interested in this as well, not a huge fan of the Sync2 in the Escape, definitely interested in seeing what you all come up with or end up doing...

I've heard a few horror stories about the Sync2 having problems once you put a remote start in the car. So far my remote start has sucked and its going to have to go back to Ford to have it looked at.
