Looking for ideas. Steering wheel vibrates at 55-65 mph, then goes away. Seems worse when tires are cold, though only slightly. Didn't have a problem when the shocks were at their softest setting. Much worse when stiffened. I can be driving with no vibration, hit a bump and vibration starts. Thinking of having the tires road forced balanced first. What do you guys think?

road force is a big thing with lighter suspension components.

problem is that so many roads have washboarding, even the new 390 is getting bad in spots

when restrained to the ride point your also possibly looking at possible piston/bore wear as its the highest wear point. on the softest setting your moving into the tight area's where its able to damp it out.

road force is the cheapest to verify

If you are getting a vibration from tires like unbalanced , it usually doesn't start from hitting bumps while driving. I would check for any free play in all the steering and suspension or loose nuts and bolts . Did you have any parts off when working on the shocks ? Or have you recently done work to the car or rotated the tires ?

But out of balance tires can and do hit a certain speed then vibrate and can go away if driven faster too . No bumpy road needed .
